I received my Master's degree in Community Counseling in Spring of 2001. It is my hope to someday combine both the profession of social work and counseling in a private practice setting.
The Generalist Approach to Social Work
Generalist practitioners apply multi-level, multi-method approaches to the resolution of the problems of persons in their environments.
The generalist perspective builds upon a common base of social work knowledge and skills; this perspective is problem focused based in a systems framework and a problem solving methodology.
A systems framework recognizes the inter relatedness of human problems, life situations and social conditions, resulting in a broad approach to problem definition. This open, multi-level mode of problem definition is research based but not constricted by any particular theoretical or interventive approach; intervention levels and methods are determined by the nature of the problem situation.
Words Of Wisdom
The Serenity Prayer
... grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change
the courage to change the things I can
and the wisdom to know the difference.
