Famous game designer Hideo Kojima held a press event to anounce what's sure to be one of next year's hottest games on any platform, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

Kojima addressed the crowd before showing the footage of Metal Gear Solid 2, which showed plenty of the game's coming features such as its plot and some of its main characters. The government-trained specialist Solid Snake returns as the protagonist of Metal Gear Solid 2, and from all the footage that was shown, it's evident that Snake looks and moves more realistically than ever before. He bolts through high-risk areas, dives out of range of enemy fire, lies in ambush around corners, walks across catwalks, and much more.

But Snake's done most of that already in Metal Gear Solid for the PlayStation. Instead, even as Metal Gear Solid helped set new standards for cinematic quality in games, so too does the sequel. With improved grahics and gamplay, the cinematic challenges re raised to the limit so far. Snake himself looks strikingly realistic in the sequel, and the game's environment is very impressive. (Although it was stated that the game would take place in Manhattan, it appears that the action actually takes place off the coast of NY in a big oil tanker). The sequences on the ship took place in heavy rain at night, and you could see the rain drenching Snake's hair and clothing.

Another exciting part took place in what looked like the ship's bar, as Snake dodged gunfire. Kojima stated that guards in Metal Gear Solid 2 would come in several levels of strengths. In one sequence, Snake was confronted with Genome soldiers with riot shields that deflected his bullets. The perspective then switched to the player's first-person view, firing at the soldiers' legs.

* Recently, I downloaded the preview for Metal Gear Solid 2, and let me tell you, this game looks like the best PS2 game of the year. The game is so detailed. For example, when Snake is shot, he loses blood. The health meter turns yellow and every 5 five seconds, his health goes down. Also, Snake can take people hostage and drag and hide the enemy. The AI is now harder. If the AI finds a dead comrad, the alarm goes off and the search for you is on. After the alarm goes off, it goes into evasion for 15 seconds, and finally into caution mode. Your radar is back but the patrol routes of the enemy is different they are stll are alert.

I recently had the chance to play the Metal Gear Solid 2 demo and it was great. The first 5-10 minutes of the game was just like a movie that left you mystified and entrigued as Snake jumps of a bridge. The gameplay is great. There are so many moves that Snake can do like shoot fire extinguishers, shoot steam pipes (which distract enemy), the usual punch and kick, hang off sides, hold enemy hostage and make them drop items, and many other stuff. I don't know you gamers, but when this game comes out, I am definately getting this already great hit.

The game has arrived and I am sure that any gamer that has ever seen or played this game has been amazed. The incredible and life-like graphics are so real, it probably is in the top 3 PS2 games rated purely of graphics. The gameplay and the storyline really add a whole lot to the game, as your goal is to basically eliminate the enemies.
