The Diva's Domain

Come one, come all to the diva's unique website. Here you will find a lot of useless information, but more importantly, you'll find...well, a lot of unimportant babble. You will, however, come to learn a lot about me, which is, of course, a quite beneficial entity (well, maybe not quite). Well, enough rambling from me...on with the webpage!!

First of all, let me tell you who I am. My name is Vanessa, I am 25 years old, and am currently residing in New York, Long Island to be exact. I moved to Long Island so that I could be closer to Manhattan, where I had hopep to begin my musical career. I have obtained a few musical "gigs" in Manhattan at small cabaret nightclubs around the Broadway area and have performed in regional theatre on Long Island. Most recently I was crowned "Long Island's Gay Idol," and as a result performed at Forevergreen's Breast Cancer Awareness benefit. Next venue is the NY Pride Parade... Thank you again to all of my friends and family that attended any of my performances...your support means a lot to me!

Speaking of music, let me share with you my tastes in music. Let me say, first of all, Madonna is a goddess...wait, let me rephrase that...Madonna is THE Goddess!! She is, without a doubt, my favorite singer, performer, and pop icon. I idolize her not only for her music, but for her outgoing personality and intelligence as well. I admire her so much I even have one of her songs tattooed around my left ankle ("Oh Father," which has been my favorite song since I was eight years old). I was fortunately able to catch the Drowned World Tour and more recently her latest, first with my mother and then with my girlfriend, Jaynie...they were both AMAZING!! Madonna looked beautiful and the performance was absolutely breathtaking! Other than Madonna I am quite versatile in my taste in music. I love everything, from rock to pop, jazz to classical, opera to Broadway, new age to techno, dance to ska, gothic to industrial...pretty much everything, with the exception of most country, rap, and heavy metal music. Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Jewel, Dar Williams, The Cranberries, R.E.M., Dido, Graeme Revell, LIVE, The Cure, Depeche Mode, and Moby are some of my favorites... I also adore going out to techno parties...really feelin' the beats pounding in my chest gives me such a rush.

As aforementioned, I am very much into music, but I do love all the arts alike, including theatre, films, photography, and writing. I consider myself an actress as well as a singer, and have been in quite a few plays, musicals, and even operas throughout my life. My favorite role thus far into my career has been playing Queen Aggravaine in Once Upon a Mattress. Other major roles that I have played include Ruth in Blithe Spirit, Maurya in R. Vaughn Williams' opera, Riders to the Sea, and Dinah in Leonard Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti. For a full list of what I've done, check out my resume.

Like I said, I'm also very much into films. I worked at a movie theatre for two years, and became quite the movie buff during that time. I guess being able to see all the new movies for free had something to do with that :o) My favorite movies include, but are not limited to, The Sound of Music, West Side Story, Philadelphia, All About Eve, Devil's Advocate, The Craft, Wild Things, But I'm a Cheerleader, Gia, and Life is Beautiful.

Now let's get a little more personal... I am a bisexual female. That means I like both men and women; some people call that being selfish...I call that not limiting my options (*grin*). Seriously, actually, I prefer women, but never limit love to a particular sex. However, at this moment in time, and definitely for the rest of my life, I am, in fact, limiting my options, for I am dating a wonderful woman. My girlfriend/future wife, Jaynie, I met online. After both leaving long-term relationships and feeling as though we'd never be able to pick up the pieces, we began speaking as friends, helping to ease each other's pain. Within such a short amount of time we "clicked," realizing we had finally discovered God's plan, our meaning of life, each other's soul mate. I formed a bond so close with this woman in such a short amount of time, which only grows with each and every moment. For over a year Jaynie and I have lived happily together, as of December in our first "home." I love this woman with all my heart and cannot wait for the day in which we exchange our vows and recite the precious words "I do," which will forever bond our souls.

So that's the webpage. You've seen the work of the not-so-master mind. It's not very impressive I know, but that's what you get from someone who doesn't really have the time to spend countless hours beautifying their web page. So thanks for stopping by...I always love having company over. Come again soon...and don't forget to sign the guestbook on your way out.
