On January 22, 2001 we lost Ursula Toomey McElduff.Click here for some photos.
A celebration of her life was held at St. Catherine's church in Mountain Lakes, NJ,
and many cousins/aunts/uncles/friends attended.
This mass was the group effort of Ursula's Family and for those of you who could not be there we would like to tell you a little bit about it.
Ursula's son Matt said a lovely welcome to all. The readings were shared by her granddaughter Kathleen Kiernan and grandsons Patrick Kiernan and Kelan Mc, as well as Nan's friend Eileen Dunn. During the offertory hymn all twenty grandchildren lined up in pairs at the end of the aisle to bring up the wine and bread as well as an item which reminded them of their Nanny. These items, ranging from sand from the beach, to books, to a handmade twig ladder, and many other items were put in a basket by the altar. Then granddaughter Bridget Mc joined family friend Michael Puzo in singing "The Irish Blessing" and her pure and clear soprano brought a tear to many an eye. Ursula's daughter Susan Kiernan said a wonderful eulogy of which Nan herself would surely have approved.
We would like to say thank you for everyone's kind thoughts and prayers.
Please be sure to sign the guestbook. E-mail us any news and photos and we'll add them as well. Without the news and updates the website will fizzle out so.... we hope this works out and cousins will contribute.
We love to hear from you!
