In My Neighborhood

you come to my neighborhood and you say damn,
    Kathy your sister must got some doe.

But truthfully there is luxury in every neighborhood,
    if you just keep it tight.

You come to my neighborhood and you as,
    I wished I lived here but I tell you this no you don't

There is a ghetto everywhere you go and little does everyone know,
    Two girls just got shot the other day.
so don't get it twisted.

You come to my neighborhood and you say
    If I lived here I'd never go back to Harlem again

I'd tell you I would because I figured there wasn't enough going on in my hood
    Basically because I was so use to the drama that I grew up around.
I figured that Harlem was where all the fun was at.

    Don't you get it,
don't no one like any changes in their especially the changes that are for the best of that persons life.

This is how I felt six whole years ago.

    Ain't I glad that I moved from the hood,
basically because of the dangers that I would of had gone through besides being pregnant and struggling with the little bit of job that I would of had.

    There wouldn't of had been no me.
Fun and games can be found everywhere, which doesn't mean not to go visit your old neighborhood because of all the bad things that you grew up around.

     You can basically go back show your friends who never moved off the block the new you,
and show them that sitting around feeling sorry for themselves is not going to get them anywhere.

    Don't be too egotistic about the new you because all that it can ever do is spark up a flame that water can't ever put out.

    Try to save yourself from the trouble,
                                                                        the gossip,
                                                                                            the , oh she think she's all that girls,
                                                                                                                                                            and the gunshots.

    Show them that changes are good and when standing on the corner smoking weed and hollerin at every chicken head is not going to get you anywhere.
