College Essay for Hampton University
 
    My name is Harold Fraser. I'm a senior at Murry Bergtraum High School for Business Careers. The main reason for me writing this essay is to inform you about myself. Information when accompanied with my transcript will get me accepted. There are three main facts which I think you should know about me. What I'm like, extra-curricular activities, and why I would like to attend your college.
    I am an outgoing person. I like to travel, even though I haven't been anywhere. I will always entertain new ideas and have many of my own. I like to have fun, but I know ow to be serious. I like to read and am a good writer. I may even try my hand at writing a book. I am sociable and easy to get along with, which will lead me into fact number two.
    I really haven't done any extra-curricular activities sponsored b my school but I do have a job. I work at the Richmond Hill Branch of the Queens Public Library system. I have had the job for a little over a year. I started out volunteering and was later on hired. My job is to shelve books. I help people find books sometimes. Working at the library is the reason I read a lot. I really like science fiction for some reason. It's probably because of the advanced technology described in some of them. This job has provided me with more than just a paycheck. The constant reading has increased my vocabulary and analytical skills. I am now able to find a hidden or double meaning in a sentence in less time. I feel that this will be a very useful skill in college.
    The last fact that I feel you should know about me is why I wish to attend your college. During Easter Vacation of 1999 I went on a college tour. The tour was to historical African-American colleges. One of the chaperones graduated from Hampton and he informed me of the excellent business programs that are provided there. When I arrived at the college I was amazed at the campus and the tour. I took as many notes as possible. I am really anxious to get an opportunity to attend Hampton and see what the school can do to help me in the long run.
