Q: How long have you live
in Bed-stuy Brooklyn?
A: I have live in Bed-stuy
Brooklyn since 1987.
Q: How has the
Neighborhood change?
A: The vacant lots on
this block Hart St. were constructed into house for people to live in and
a safe place to live.
Q: How
were the Neighbors among one other?
A: It
use to be so friendly here in the hood but that was about 20 years ago,
but I guess since the leader of the community have gotten older and some
of them even died so did most of the community it just died right
along with it.
Q: Would you have rather live
anywhere else ?
A: NO not really because
were ever you go it still going to be a weird or danger place to you because
you have to get use to it.
Q: Is this Neighborhood more
dangerous now or before since you started living in this Neighborhood?
A: I feel it is lot safer
than now than before because when I was growing I would go to sleep and
be awaken by gunshots and now there's barley ever gunshots or real danger
in this Neighborhood.
Dear Journal,
At different times of year my
neighborhood seem to be a different places. Like in the Winter time
all of us meaning the neighborhood kids, get together and play games were
we stir up a lot of noise. Like football, snowball fights and other
Winter activities. I feel my neighborhood is the most fun during
this season, especially because on the corner of Hart St. were I live,
there's is a huge mountain, that we all go to with garbage can lids when
it snow and slide down the sides of the mountain when the snow gets slippery.
There's was one time that we all got together and went to the mountain
and my boy best friend call me to run towards him when I fell and bust
my @$$ it hurt but it was funny now that I look back at it. But the
best Winter of them all was in 1996. That when a blizzard hit.
And instead of having to go to school, we would all go outside early in
the morning and play all and night. Those days were so fun, but now
we are all older and don't really much in the Winter which I look forward
to because it is my favorite season, but have snowball fights.
I had mention that my neighborhood is kind of corny will it is. But that when September 9, comes around every year. That's when we all have to go into our houses early and all the fun is over because now we have to hit the books and start getting up early in the morning we can't go to sleep late or hang out because of school the next that day. There's no more time to play, just when we feel the fun is just starting , back to school we go. And that's when you come around my way and there's nobody outside to play. Not even the parents, because there are getting their children ready to go to school and preparing themselves for their work place. No one goes outside on a school night because we don't want to be tired the next day with long day of school ahead of us.
The most
pleasant experience during this process I would have to said was the picture
that was had to take. Because I love to take picture and it makes
the project more interesting, actually getting to show those who only know
what your neighborhood looks like by what I describe and getting to the
show the pictures makes it more visible for them way your neighborhood
really is like. The part of the project that worked the most for
me had to be the poem . Because ever since I was younger whether
I was Happy, sad, or mad, I would put my thoughts into a poem and after
I got my feelings out in a poem I was satisfy. There's was only one
part that seem not to work for me and that is the all the typing that we
had to do. The most difficult part of the project was putting the
work all together in to one big Neighborhood project.
2 PICTURES SCENES
My first picture is about the mountain that get all cover up with during the winter months. This is the very mountain that I mention in my journal that in the winter time we (hood kids) would let the snow on the mountain gets slippery and all of us taken turn sliding down the mountain sides with our garbage can lids, having a good time enjoying ourselves. But this particular picture is of my cousin Sammy taking his turn of sliding on the mountain.
My second
picture is about the summer hot days that we spend in the Johnny pumps.
Getting wet all day and all night, having a really nice time. And
this particular pictures is of my cousin Daniel having a wonderful time
getting wet, and as you can see he is all soak up, you can see the water
dripping off his face and neck. In the background of the picture
there's a blurry caption of a kid with water gun and the kid right next
to him enjoying the sun beaming on his back. You see this is what
I man when I say the neighborhood kids have a blast in the summer time
as my cousins and the background of the picture demostates.
