The Beginnig of Time (Genesis 2:15)
The Biblical Thought: Work was a job that was that came about when sin entered the world and the human had to pay since they had to ejected the garden.  This was consider a curse by God to punish the disobedience and ingratitude of Adam and eve towards god by disobeying his forms of law.

The Way of The Greek World 500bc-until-117ad The Greeks were similar to the Hebrews, because they consider work as a curse to the people.  The word work for the Greeks was define as Ponos described from poena, meaning sorrow.  The manual labor was only for those who were salves.  For the Greeks the Mental Labor was consider as a deplore because it was a brutalizing of the mind by forcing it to work when it was not made for this.  To be used in such form.

Even though work was needed to satisfy the need for the satisfaction of material needs. Plato one of the most famous philosophers and his assistant Aristotle  made it clear that the purpose was for the majority to work and for the minority to to engage in pure  exercises of the mind, such as art, philosophy, and politics.  Even though that Plato recognized the division of labor by class of categories like poor and the rich, then divided by another category such as of the different kinds of work.  Even thoguh they did wish for people to do have the wish of owning their own private property and having hte  wish of wealth.

The Way The Romans Thought 400ad - 1400ad Roamns had mostly adopted their norms from the culture of the Greeks, because they also consider that the manual job was something digrating for the people to do.  The Romans did incourage  the competence in organization, administration, building, and warefare.

The Romans empire had spread throught out most of Europe, the middle East. Egypt, and North Africa.  It also then came about to influence most of our culture

What Slaves Were For Romans Roman most likely utilized slaves.  Moderate number of Slaves were held and they were treated relatively well.  Thousands of slaves were required for a large-scale grain production on some estates.  Then the treatment was worse.  slaves were then viewd a cattle,  evn sometimes worse because they believed cattles were not capable of caring for themselves as the slaves were.  Even though that slaves tried their best to have their hope alive to one day be freed.

For the Roman the work was to be done only by the Slaves, only two jobs were made only for th efree man which was agriculture and big business.  A man that was only his job to be used by arms was a dishonoring and vulgar job for a Roman citizen.  The ones that were not privileged to be wealthy and were obliged to work along the side of the slaves, they were not treated with gratitude.  for all these cultures, Hebrew, greek, and roman work was a punishment by god for the man's original sin,  but a positve aspect for earning, instead of getting charity from others as an excuse for physical needs of life.  Wealth was recognized as an opportunity but also a a form of materialism to share with others that were less fortunate.

The Christian Church Tries to Rule The wealthy were expected to meet their own needs, to excess of their riches to charity.
