I am writting this mainly for my benfit.My spelling and grammer is not very good.The recomendation is that no one do what I have done.No one should break the law at anytime , in any way.My new writtings will be in a different color.I like learning things. And this way I will know how to do colors on a web page.
I have a hobby of growing my own marijuana. The amount that I grow is very small. This is my way of doing my hobby.
The 3 pieces of the chunky partical board (8ft by 4ft). Were cut to make a 5ft by 2.5ft by 2 ft cabinet.Then there were installed three 4ft shop lights and one bathroom exhust fan.The inside of this cabinet was painted flat white.The outside painted brown{request of my wife}.
I have been given 16 one gallion waxpaper ice cream cartons.The top still on.
For lights flourcents 4ft is sufficent.Just regular white room tubs used.40 watts each. A total of 240 watts of light.When the lights were picked up. I noticed a 75 watt high presure sodium light.It will be picked up later.
In the mean time. The seeds have been started.Only 16 cartons can fit in comfortablely.I have a 72 seed starter kit. Thay are so cheep. but I should only need 32 seeds started.
Last night when I checked on my seeds that I am germanting.The cabinet was very cold.The lights were then turned on for heat.The seeds are placed in a wet paper towel.My starter containers are filled with soil.Just waiting for the plant to grow.
Today I saw my first seed with a sprout started.Almost time to start planting.
It has been 3 days.The roots are starting to show.Time has come to start planting the sprouting plants.
24 seeds have roots comming from them.As of right now they are placed in moist soil.A clear plastic top is in place to keep in the moistness.The soil is just top soil out of a 40 pound bag purchased at a local department store.
As of now half of my starter cups. Have a seed that has sprouted a root.I have been reading and later on I will need to set up a cloning chamber.Must do some research on this.
When I came home from work.I just had to look at my garden.Their is at least 12 plants above ground.The small round leaves are starting their job.Changing light energy into complex sugars.The plants are under the plastic cover still.I will wait till at least 3/4 of my plants are touching the top befor I remove it.
Today I will start to count as day one.Last night the top is removed and the fan has been turned on.My wife complained about the noise from the fan.So from now on the fan will be on from 7am till 11 pm.I just counted the plants their are 17 of them and more still to come.I can see some more trying to poke out of the soil.My timer is on the fan only for now.The plants are getting 24 hours of light a day.This is so much fun.Not much else gives me this much pleasure doing.
Day 2.... I counted and measured my babies today.I have 25 with true leaves.My largest is 1 inch tall and 1 inch from tip of leaf to tip of leaf.The babies got a drink of water.I am using a garden sprayer to water them.Soon I will be adding plant food to the water.It will be a very deluited. So I can feed them every time I water my babies.I know that If given full strength the food has to be given once or twice a week. But if given at less than half strength. The plants can be feed more often.
Day 4.... Today I started to feed my babies at less than half strength.29 of my babies and possable more.Everytime I have grown I used 8 ounce cups. The next time I will go back that way.More soil for the plants to use.My sprayer is 2.5 gallons. I put in enouph food for one gallon and filled it all the way up. So it is at less than half strength.The watering is getting done twice a day.So far so good.
On the first day of the month. I was going to transplant my babies.But after some thought.Why should I transplant the male plants.So then I went to a 12 hour dark cycle.By the end of the month All the male plants will be picked.And then I will transplant all the female plants.The plants are doing great. All are a nice green color. And show no signs of any problems for now.
It has been 17 days since I went to 12 hours of darkness.I know that their is no light getting in. Because one plant came up about the time I went to 12 hours of darkness.That plant is showing signs of being a female.The other plants are not showing signs of sex yet. But each day I am now checking them for signs of sex.Today I purched a rooting solution in liquid form.Now when I transplant it will be used to help my female plants get a good start.The transplanting will be about the end of the month.
Today I started to produce my own co2.Taking 2.5 gallons of water.Getting it to a rapid boil.Then add 5 pounds of sugar.In my brewing pail there is 3 gallons of water.When the sugar has disolved.I turn off the heat and let cool.Then mix the two waters together.At this point I take a fish tank pump,and pump air into the water.That adds more air to the water better for the yeast to work.When the water gets to room tempture add the yeast.Then put the top on the brew pail.There is a tub going to the top of the pail. Extending to the middle of the top of the inside of the cabinet.I made an air valve in the line of the tube.The co2 bubbles out in a 2 quart container.Then back to another tube then to the top of the cabinet.When the co2 starts the fan go's off.
It has been over two weeks and not much signs of sex. Sex of the plants should be showing soon.
After starting the brewing of co2.It has been 2 days and the leaves look greener then ever before.The fan has been turned off.The heat has not been a problem at all.Some of the plants are showing signs of sex. I now know that their is at least 2 female plants.Now the rest of my plants need to show signs of sex.
Today I transplanted all my plants.It was done wrong. The plants were not watered befor transplanting.But they were watered after transplanting.4 plants were used per a ice cream conteiner.The containers are 11 6/8 inches tall and 5 1/2 inches wide and another 5 1/2 inches the other wide way.The total soil space is 355.43 cubic inches.I am not getting enouph show of sex now. The thought is the containers were too small.With larger containers the plants have more room to grow roots.I hope that all my plants do live through this ordeal.The job was done late in the day. So when the lights go off shortly.Then the plants will rest all night.
I know that everything is working great.Their is 3 confirmed females and one male.
Today I moved all my plants around.So the smaller ones would get more light.This month is almost over and only 7 plants out of 32 have showed feamle sex.It also looks like I lost one in the transplanting.When I put in a pan to hold the containers.Their is only room for 8 of them.So 8 females would be great.
This is the strangest thing I have ever seen.It has been almost an entire month.And only 8 plants are showing sex.Seven females and one male.The rest are showing very little signs of a budding stage at all.If light was getting in their would be no signs of sex at all.About the first of the month I will be getting rid of all males and no signs of sex plants. Then I will go back to the longer day cycle for more cloning sights.
I have started to see more females.So I am thinking about waiting till Sunday afternoon.There will not be more than two plants per container.
Today I did the worst and killd some plants. Only 10 females living now.The rest will get a proper send off.And burned off in respect to the marijuana gods.Now the lights will go back to 24 hours a day.My brew mix is still going for 10 days and still going strong.
For the next month at least.The only change will be just a vegative growth.So my visites here wil be less.The only time that I will write here will be if something drastic happens.The next project should come in a little more than a month.And that will be my first attempt at cloaning.
It has been almost 2 weeks since the brewing started.When you push down on the ail pail you would still get co2 out.So the brew mix is not changed yet.That is a very cheep way to make co2.It will cost me $2.50 every 2 weeks for co2 not bad at all.
Something has happened. I have a spare room that can get electric.The 1000 watt mh I bought can be used to bud plants.The room will have fans and a light. COOL I spent sometime today putting electric in the room.All I now need to do is hang the light and put a plug on the light.
I start using my metal halid lamp soon to grow.I am having a hard time trying to hang the lamp.When it is wired up the ballest will be in a seperate space from my grow space.That is to keep down the heat.Today I bought cups and foil pans. Two days ago I started to germanate some more seeds 16 of them.My crop has to get bigger.Because I will be cloneing and need some more mother plants to clone from.
Today has been a busy day for me.I wired up my hid lamp. And placed all my plants in my new grow space.Sunday morning I will turn the lights off and will not turn them on till 4pm Monday.Then the timer will be set to give a 12 hour dark cycle. I understand that the longer night will cause my plants to start budding sooner.The seeds that were germanating 2 days ago are now sprouting a tap root.And all have been planted in soil.So now I have 2 different grow spaces.One for veg. growth and germantion,cloning.The other for a budding growth.This is great.
An interesting thing happened today.I had to go buy a light for my livingroom. When I got back home is when I noticed you could see my light.Quickly I nailed the black sheets back over the window.I have been asking questions over the internet to help me.My light was changing colors from the white to a red/orange.Like a hps lamp.I wonder If that means the bulb is going.The whole system is 2 years old but never used.The light was turned off at 10:30pm and will not be turned on till monday at 4 pm. I read that a longer night of at least 36 hours makes the plants bud quicker.This gives me a 41.5 hour night. That I can understand.Because plants form a hormoan that gets them started on budding.The longer night builds up enouph of that hormoan to start budding.
Today I dragged out all my old grow books. Doing a little off web learning.
I need to fine a easy way to water my plants.There was given to me some 2 gallon plastic gas cans brand new never used.I can carry the water in them.Walmart has watering cans for $2.50 I picked one up.This should be better then me using the 2 gallon sprayer. The sprayer can be used in the cabinet.
I could not wait so the lights went on at 9:00pm. That gave the plants 22 1/2 hours of darkness. Now the first day is 6 hours long.When the lights were turned on the center of the leaves were yellow.So I think I did the right thing turning the lights on now.
I am still waiting for the seeds to sprout through the soil.Nothing yet.Everytime I get a bag I look for seeds.20 came in my last bag.I just got another bag still looking for more seeds.
Out of 20 seeds 16 sprouted a root and were planted. Now 14 have come up out of the soil. My plants getting the dark cycle are doing fine. Almost all of the yellow has disappared.I put a spray top on a seltser bottel. That way I spray the leaves with water that contains co2 only. It is salt free.10 plants getting a night. And 14 getting a 24 hour day.Out of the 14 I wonder how many will be females?
Today I took a large milk crate and placed at the bottum of my cabinet.Then placed the plants growing in the cabinet on top of the milk crate.That raised the plants to get better light.It looks like 14 plants will be my final count of the last seeds I germanted.The 10 females growing under my hid lamp.Are doing great for now.Saturday I will put my ail pail up stairs for more co2 there. I feed the plants up stairs yesterday.The small plants that are growing in the cabinet are bvery small.So it is very easy for me to spray seltser water on them (added co2 that way).
My fears of the worst happening has happened.Going into a 12 hour darkness then to a long day and back to a long night. Made one of my plants grow male flowers.As I looked around at my garden is when I noticed the male flowers among the buds growing.Everyday I have to go pick my male flowers so no seeds grow.But I do know that some will grow because one of the flowers opened up.
Happy 420 Day.Today I cut every stem that had male flowers on them. Trying to save as much as I can.It looks like I might get some seeds but not many of them.There also has been added a guestbook. I think some of the people that read this can help me with what I am doing.Not only in this web page but my garden too.
In my cabinet their is 11 plants doing great. Three are just fighting to stay alive. But I will not give up hope on them.
The 3 small plants are doing great.Very small leaves on them but other wise fine.I keep removing the male flowers from my other plants.I am doing my best to keep from getting seeds.
I did the worst I could do today. My best plant had to be killed. It grew male flowers all over it. Every female flower was gone. I also put my brew pail in my flowering garden. The mix was changed a little. Instead of one cup of sugar per gallon of water. I used 5 pounds of sugar and almost 6 gallons of water. That champine yeast works great it lasts more than a month.When I bought the yeast I was told it would stand higher temps. The task of cloneing is soon at hand still reading up on that, also getting the needed suplies.
There is an algae problem now. I tried stopping the watering. But it only harmed the plants in my cabinet.The next thing to try is cutting out the light to the pots. By taking a brown paper bag and cutting it up to wrap around the flower pots and cutting a round top for the soil that should work.By taking away the light it should kill the algae.
Last night I recieved 2 small hps lamps. Each lamp has a 50 watt bulb in it.I am looking into what is the largest bulb that can go in to it.
It has been a while for my up date. Today I hung a black curtin in my grow room. It is made from black plastic 6 mil. thick. I am moving my cabinet up there. It will be better for me to clone up there.
It was mentioned to me that the use of the fans was not useful enouph. The fans help strengthen up the stalks and move the air around the room. Moving co2 over the leaves of the plant.
Today I moved my cabinet up stairs. Had to take the whole thing apart. The black plastic works great. I now can leave the room door open all the time. And now there is a better air exchange. (need to add co2 less now)
Six of the plants were placed back in the cabinet. The rest was placed in the budding space. I also started up some seeds on their way to sprout. Keeping the room door open will keep it a little cooler.When the plants that were started to bud today. Show signs of female I will transplant then. I feel that everything that I try brings me closer to a better growing style.
Today I cut all veg. growth on my 6 plants that I am cloning from. Leaving the top and stripping down about 4 to 5 inches.Now I wait 2 days for the plants to heal then take my clone.
Two days ago I did something stupid. I started 40 seeds germaniting and so far all but 13 have grown. Now I have no room to clone.I am looking at a short wooden box. I can use it to clone and sprout seeds. All it would need is one flourscent shop light. Place it on the top and let it hang over the edges about 3 inches on each side. Man I am going to grow a lot when this hole set up is done.
Today I received some white material. I am tacking it up as a white curtian to reflect the light back. It is hanging over the black plastic and over the window wall. This material reflects back the light with a blue tint.
Two of my plants made it all the way to a full harvest. The plants look great. I never thought I could grow so good.
All I have been doing , is germanting seeds and planting them. Then growing vegatively for 2 months. Then putting the plants in the budding room till harvest. It all has been getting done the same as when I started. The only problem is, I now have been infested with aphids. I am using a spray made from the mum flower. That is killing them off. It is safe for me and my family. Just not good for bugs. I spray the underside of the leaves. That is where the bugs are living.
