Lynn owned budgies as a child. In the late
1970s she purchased a pair from Woolworth's with no intention of breeding them. The budgies had other ideas and began laying and hatching eggs on the cage floor. From that event, Lynn's life changed. Having been bitten by the "bird bug," she acquired lovebirds, cockatiels, Indian ringnecks, and eastern rosellas. In 1984 she built an aviary with the intention of housing one pair of greenwing macaws and the smaller birds. However, she soon purchaed a pair of timneh greys and a pair of blue and gold macaws. Her first blue and gold chick hatched in 1989, her first timneh in 1991, her first greenwing in 1993, and her first military in 2001. Now retired from her job at Cornell, she lives in apleasant relaxed atmosphere devoting the majority of her time raising her birds and caring for her pets. Lynn enjoys her hobby, her retirement and her life. |
