• What is a FreeThinker?

The way we use it here, a freethinker is someone who can think for him/herself without dependence on any preconceived notions programmed by society. An independent thinker. That's someone who is interested in knowing how the world really works, why things are the way they are; someone who tests how ideas conform to reality before actually believing in them.
 
 

• What is the FreeThinkers Forum?

  
  The FreeThinkers Forum is some sort of a meeting place online for people (mostly Filipinos) who are inclined into cerebral exertions, that is, intellectual expression. It is not an organized group with formal membership. It may be called a tambayan of people who want to think aloud.
   
   

• What is the FreeThinkers List? Why do you want people to sign up?

  
  We would just like to make up a list of Filipinos who can call themselves freethinkers to make the statement that "Hey, here we are, we are alive!"

  If you've heard of alt.atheism's atheist/agnostic list, this is some sort of an extension of that. The list is not for any particular purpose other than being a declaration of sorts.

  Like the aa list, we will assign you a number when you sign up. This is not a formal membership in any organized group. No membership responsibility is therefore attached to signing up. It is just, well, a list. That's it.

• What happens when I join the list?

  
  Well, congratulate yourself! Although this is not some sort of a ritual, it kind of links you to others out there who are also looking for real answers. You will have contributed to the statement that we want to make. And that is, there are many Filipinos who freely think for themselves regardless of the fact that most of them were born with the Catholic Church slammed down their throats.
   
   

• Are all free thinkers atheists?

  
  By definition, freethinkers are skeptical of beliefs that cannot be demonstrated as facts. Yes, at one time or another, they will question the existence of god or gods in the same manner that they are skeptical about the existence of dwarfs, fairies, santa claus, and other myths. Yes, most freethinkers are atheists, some are agnostics, others, well...
   
   

• Aren't you afraid you are going to hell for questioning the existence of God?

  
  Simply, we are not inclined to believe that.
   
   

• Do atheists worship the devil?

  
  No. By extension, unbelief in the existence of God means unbelief in the existence of the Satan, the devil.
   
   

• Do FreeThinkers hate Christians?

  
  No. Christianity is not an object of hate. We want to make it clear that we do not promote any bigotry or prejudice against any person or group of persons with beliefs different from us. The statement we want to make is of tolerance. We leave you to your opinions, leave us to our own, but sometimes we may debate those opinions and see which is more valid and supported by facts.
   
   

• If I'm not an atheist or agnostic, can I still join the discussions?

  
  Yes, if you've got something to say. There is no censorship in these discussions.
   
   

• Can I join the list if I'm not an atheist or agnostic?

  
  Sure, freethinking is not limited to atheism or agnosticism. But do tell us why you think you are a freethinker. We want to keep the list true those who really are free thinkers.
