Since its charter in 1965, the women of the Epsilon Tau Chapter have been committed to the implementation of programs outlined by the national offices. Some of the programs include:
Project Cherish: The Epsilon Tau Chapter has adopted Minisink Townhouse, a historical landmark and cultural treasure in Harlem. Part of our commitment to Minisink includes beautifying and preserving the Townhouse and making the community aware of its cultural value.
The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy: In accordance with the objectives of the Delta Academy, the Epsilon Tau Chapter is very proud to sponsor our own Delta Academy program. We have over 20 participants and major emphasis is placed on sisterhood, scholarship, and service. Our Delta Academy received recognition at our Sorority's National Conference in 1998 and at the Eastern Regional Conference in July 1999. For more information, please contact Nancy Cadet.
Epsilon Tau Scholarships: Because of the great expense to pursue a college education, the Epsilon Tau Chapter established the Epsilon Tau Book Award and the Elizabeth Darguste Academic Excellence Award to provide financial assistance to 2 qualified minority graduating high school seniors. For further information about applying for the scholarships, please address all correspondence to Lavelle Thomas .
Thika Memorial Baby Shower: As an expansion to one of our Sorority's National programs, Epsilon Tau collects new and used baby furniture, clothing and supplies and forwards the merchandise to the Thika Hospital Maternity Wing in Nairobi, Kenya.
Adopt-A-Black Business: Continuing the program initiated by Epsilon Tau members in 1996, we continue to promote Sister's Uptown Bookstore which has been in business for the past 5 years in Harlem.
Community Awareness Seminars: Epsilon Tau continues to provide awareness to our communities with free seminars and workshops including but not limited to: Police Brutality Seminar, Domestic Violence Seminars, Voter Registration Drives, self-defense Classes, Leadership Workshops, and Economic Development Forums.
