Things To Do
Everyone has things that they enjoy doing. I'd like to tell you here about the things that I enjoy.
Since I was a little girl I've had a fascination with cars. I guess it could be rightly said that I have a love affair with them. Right now I drive a '93 Thunderbird LX. She's sleek in appearance and great in performance. When I get someplace faster than anyone thought I just smile and say, "Thunderbird's have wings to fly." :o) As if appearance and performance weren't enough I was lucky enough to get her in the color I wanted...Teal. Here's a picture of what she looks like. Pretty isn't she??
The first car that I has that was both pretty and FAST was the Chrysler Cordoba.
I won alot of money street racing with this car. To tell the truth I think I won quite a few times because the guys I would race underestimated my courage to drive at speeds in excess of 100 mph. and do it well. But win or lose I did it because it was and still is great fun and a heck of a rush :o)
Everyone has a car that is their ultimate dream. Some people long for a Mercedes or a Rolls. I have always wanted to own and drive a Plymouth 'Cuda.
This car is my ultimate dream. I'd like to be able to get one and have someone help me rebuild the engine and drive train. Then paint it black with purple detailing. The finishing touch would be to tint the windows dark and have the Harley Davidson eagle and shield etched on the bottom of the back window. I can't show you a picture of this car like I did the others because it still only exists in my heart. I hope the pictures here give you an idea of what I'm trying so ineffectually to describe. Should I ever be fortunate enough to build my dream, I'll be sure to add a picture of it here :o)
Cars aren't the only thing that I enjoy, though I must admit that they're tops on the list :o) I've always loved teddy bears. They're soft and cuddly with the most adorable faces. My all time favorite is Pooh Bear.
I have had an affinity for him and all of his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood since I was old enough to read. I may have grown older but I refuse to grow up :o) If you'd like to visit Pooh and his pals in the Hundred Acre Wood click Here.
I have a varied collection of bears. From one that's 4 ft. high to one that's 1/4 inch high and every size imaginable in-between. My Mom started giving me pieces from the Boyd Bears collection a few years ago as gifts on special occasions. These bears have a style all their own. It's not hard to see why so many people have had their hearts stolen by these adorable little creatures. This is a picture of a piece I received from my hubby Sparhawk.
Some of the small details didn't show up too well but if you look you can see patches on his sleeve and a hole in his shoe. It's these small details that make these bears irresistible. I have these bears in statue form and in the plush teddy bears. But no matter what form you find them you can be sure that they'll win your heart. Something that delightfully takes up alot of my time is my pet parrot Sciracco. *pronounced Shurocko* He's a beautiful Red Sided Eclectus. Hatched on September 18, 1996 in Slate Hill New York, he has quickly become more than a pet to my family and I.
Plump and sassy he's learned how to speak very well for a baby that's only 17 months old. He's learned to tell himself to be quiet....lol He asks to be let OUT. Like all babies he has to put everything in his mouth and like human babies he tries to put things in his mouth that don't belong there. Like our ears and fingers and anything else he can get a hold of :o) But normal mischief aside, he's wonderful to share our lives with. Nothing can compare to the feeling you get when he's snuggled on your shoulder, and he's getting sleepy, and says in a soft voice close to your ear, "I love you." Nor can anything compare to the laughs that overcome you when he's pirched on your shoulder while you're working at the computer and he sees an image come up on the screen and decides to yell at it to show it who's boss :o) Admittedly parrots are not the pet of choice for everyone, but if you have alot of love to give and the patience and endurance to share your life for 80 years or so with a creature who will perpetually act like a 2 yr old then a parrot is for you ! :o)
Photography is something I enjoy very much. I also enjoy the ocean and the creatures that live there. I had an opportunity to go whale watching in Provincetown Massachusetts. We were fortunate to see many creatures while out to sea. The most impressive one I saw that day was the Hump Back Whale.
I was very impressed by the grace and agility that they possess. It's magical the way they are able to dance above as well as below the water. I've seen documentary programs where oceanographers have swam with the whales and interacted with members of a pod. I think it would be an incredible experience and one that I would like to have. As much as whales fascinate me there is another resident of the ocean that to me is absolutely incredible.
The Great White Shark in my opinion is the greatest inhabitant of the ocean. Even though it's probably the most feared thing in the water it's also the thing I'd like most to photograph. You can see in the right of the picture an edge of a shark cage. It was designed to protect the diver from the rows of impressive teeth set in incredibly powerful jaws. Most people are so intimidated by the natural survival instincts that they fail to see the beauty. My ultimate adventure would be to have the opportunity to go down in a shark cage and take pictures like the one you see here.
Not all things are for everyone, but that's what makes us so delightfully different and unique. What I've shared here with you are among the things that interest me the most. I hope you found a few things that we share in common and a few things that were new to you in some way. :o)
