Fountainbleau Pictures

As we were driving up to the chateau the view from the driveway impressed me. It sparked my imagination and made me anticipate the tour more then I had been.

This is the view that met us as we cleared the trees. Impressive doesn't even come close. Spectacular is closer. When it was built it was the Kings small lodge meant only to be used by him and his friends for hunting jaunts.

This is a view of the gardens. To the right of the Chateau is the smokehouse where all the game was smoked and preserved. I liked that they styled the out buildings to match the Chateau. It gives a sense of continuity.

This picture was taken in the back garden. Not only does it display the grandure of the Chateau better but it also gives you an idea of the enormity of it.

I thought I had grasped the size and intricasies of the Chateau but when I saw this view it made me realise that there were more nooks and crannies to explore. There were many sections like this one, with rooms tucked here and there. It would be a dream come true to be able to explore every inch at my own leisure. :o)

This is my room-mate Julie and I. Taken in the East Garden. We left the Chateau right after this picture was taken. I enjoyed my week in France but nothing stole my heart or touched me the way Fountainbleau did. I hope one day to return and re-visit this magnificent Chateau. My only regert of the visit was that we weren't allowed to take any interior pictures. Had I been allowed to take pictures of the diffrent rooms you might be on this page for days :o) I hope you can see a tiny piece of the beauty that so captured me when I was there.
