chivalry is not dead.

chivalry is not dead. chivalry, more commonly known as "being a gentleman", is when a guy holds open a door for a girl, opens a car door for a girl, that sort of stuff. well, besides my dad, i had never experienced chivalry myself. however, recently, i have had quite a few guys act quite civil to me, and i'm very impressed.

on different occasions, guys my age held open a door for me. on these occasions i knew the guy hardly at all, but he was polite enough to be courteous to me. i was flattered. when asked why he held open the door by his friend, he said "a true gentleman should always hold the door open for a lady." i later thanked him for opening the door for me, and he remarked "well, you're a lady." being 15, i'm not usually referred to as a lady to quite often, so i took this as a great compliment. :)

so, as you can see, chivalry is not dead. it's very comforting to me to know that there are still guys out there that know how to really treat a girl with respect. i'm not expecting guys to treat me like this every day, but when a guy is as polite as these guys were, it's a rare treat.
