pawns are destined to be the lowly foot soldier for the majority of the game.

Marching ever forward; that's the life of a pawn,

and no matter how much you may want it to; it can't go back.

So take care not to push your pawns unnecessarily,

because the squares it leaves behind will stay behind for the remainder of the battle.
