below are several forms compaired but the ALGEBRAIC NOTATION is the most popular
if you decide to play in U.S.C.F. rated tournaments , you will HAVE TO KEEP SCORE
THE PIECES
K= KING Q= QUEEN R= ROOK N=KNIGHT B=BISHOP
P is not used for pawn..a move without a letter is assumed to be a pawn move ( ie: e4)
SYMBOLS USED ARE
X=......CAPTURE (take)
0-0.....CASTLE king side
O-O-O...CASTLE queen side
+.......CHECK
# or ++.CHECKMATE
=.......PROMOTION
!.......GOOD MOVE
?.......BAD MOVE
??......BLUNDER
