This week has been a crazy week. Between the hot weather, and having to do work around the farm, I haven't had hardly any time to go riding or anything. Rachel and I went on a ride tonight...it was a pretty crazy one. We ended up going through lots of corn fields, the corn was taller then the horses. That was a cool experience.
Today was my last day at Sears, YIPPEE!!!! I will certainly miss a lot of people from there, like Jordy, Sandy, Randy and Jim, but I won't miss the job! I start my new job on Monday, and hopefully it'll go well.
Well, that's it for now. Check back in a week, and hopefully I'll get another one up here!

Ok, so it's been a bit more than a week since I've updated, but thats ok. It just means I've been keeping really busy!
I started my new job at the dairy farm on July 22. So far, I'm liking it. Of course, there are minor frustrations, but what job doesnt have those? I do miss some of the people from Sears, but I've kept in touch with Randy and Jordy somewhat. I still wouldn't give up my new job, at least not yet!
I've been riding Sassy as often as I can, but with the weather being so hot, it's been really difficult. I've been getting up really early some mornings, like around 7am, just to ride. She's really doing well though. I've got her going on trail rides by herself now, and she'll walk, jog and lope on the trail...although she really just wants to gallop. Rachel and I are getting even closer to planning our all day ride, and we've got a few others going with us too. As of right now, we know it'll be a weekend in September, but we'll set the date this coming weekend.
Well, I guess that's all that I can think of for right now...keep checking back and hopefully I'll have another update soon!

Well, would you look at this, I'm actually updating this a bit more regularly! Not a whole lot is going on that's new. Rachel and I set a date to do an all-day trail ride with the horses and a few other people. We'll be going at the end of September, when it's cooler out. We're both really excited about it, we've been putting the plans together for it all summer.
The Geneseo students moved back this weekend, so that means I'll be able to start seeing a bunch of my friends again! Scott, Colleen, Mo, Jenn, Melissa, and all the others will be so much closer now. It also means that all the volunteers from SUNY Geneseo will be back! Thank god for that! It'll be so nice to have a lot of help again, I can't wait till they start coming out here again.
Next week Rachel and I are going to the Toby Keith and Montgomery Gentry concert in Syracuse at the State Fair. We're really excited about it! We're staying overnite at my aunt and uncle's...well, camper. Then the next day we're gonna help them move into the new house. I can't wait to see it! It should be a really exciting weekend. We're also having a yard sale to benefit the horse rescue that weekend, so we're gonna be busy!
Well, I think that's about it for now. Come back again soon to read more!

Whew, it's been a LONG time since I've done much updating on here. I know, I'm sorry! I've been so busy lately though! Since I last updated a lot has gone on. I'm now the Volunteer Coordinator at the horse rescue (that happened in late October), and I also volunteered to chair the fundraising committee. Any fundraising ideas, email me with them! I'm open to suggestions! Winter has been very hectic. The snow hasn't helped much, and as of today, we've had over 100" of snow this season. It sucks! We've actually had the horses blanketed for a lot of the winter...very unusual. But, we're due for a warm-up, hopefully it'll stick with us for a little while!
For those of you that have been wondering, I'm still working on getting financial aid set for school. As soon as it's taken care of, I'll be enrolling at SUNY Empire State College. I'll be getting my degree in Equestrian Studies, with a concentration in Stable Management. I'm also going to become a certified riding instructor! Yes, this is something important. I'm going to a clinic in May at Houghton College to get the certification. Once I'm certified, I'll be teaching lessons at Dan Mar Ranch, in Nunda, NY. I'll also be starting a lesson program open to the public at the horse rescue, just a small program, but some of the lesson money will be going back to the rescue, to help them out. I'm really excited about all this. Unfortunately, it'll probably mean I'll have to leave the dairy farm...I never thought I'd say it, but I don't really want to leave! I don't particularly enjoy milking cows, but it's not as bad anymore now that I've gotten faster (193 cows milked and parlor cleaned in just 3 1/2 hrs...not too bad if I don't say so myself!), and I really like everything else I get to do. Maybe I'll be able to do all 3....maybe....we'll see I guess.
The other good thing that's happening is I'm finally able to send Sassy off to get some professional training! At this point, she just needs some finishing work, stuff that I really don't have experience doing. Her jog and lope need to be slowed way down, I want her to learn neck reining, and I want her to start bending into her turns...right now she turns very "squarely." And who knows, maybe we'll be able to do some galloping and she'll stop when she's told to...that'd be nice! lol
Anyways, I guess that's it for now. Stop back in soon, I might have an update, I might not. I guess you'll just have to keep looking back to find out! :) Bye for now!

Well, financial aid finally worked itself out, and I re-enrolled at college. I'm at Empire State College, where I'm going to be taking mostly Business classes. The goal is to get a degree in Stable Management. I will get class credit for a lot of my prior knowledge, and since I pretty much manage all the horsecare aspects of the rescue, I'm lacking in the business end of things. So, that's why I'm taking business classes. They start this week, so now things really start getting busy.
In 2 weeks, Colleen and I are taking a short trip, 5 days long. We're going out west to look at some horses she's interested in, and then if she decides to buy, she'll go back and pick it up. We're mostly going because we need to get away! Of course, I'll have to bring schoolwork...lol
Not a whole lot new since the end of January. Sassy is going to Lyndonville (where Colleen boards her horses) for a month for some professional training, hopefully it'll calm her down. There is still hope for her! :)
I know it's a short entry tonight, but there's really not a lot to talk about! Keep in touch everyone!
