My Horse Page

Ok, I'll give you one guess. What's this page about? You got it, horses!! Sassy, Colt, my friend's horses, and lots of other fun stuff about horses. Enjoy!

This is Sassy, my horse. She's a 6 year old Quarter Horse mare. This picture was taken early summer '02, after I moved her home.

Sassy actually has a very sad story. I got her from Tender Mercy Equine Rescue, located in Middleport, NY, in January 2002. She came into the rescue in January 2001, and weighed 600 pounds. Now, she's just over 1000. Imagine, she was only a week away from dying of starvation, according to the vet for Tender Mercy. Look at her know, a horse in great health, and she's loving life! The next picture is from when Tender Mercy got her in, January 2001. Quite a diffrence, don't you think?? :) She's a lucky horse...

Here's a couple pics of her this summer. Don't say it, I know...I shouldn't be barefooted!

I ride Sass a few times a week, always on the trails. We've been known to go for rides 3 or 4 hrs long with Rachel and Chance. I must say, having a horse that can go on long rides is one of the best things. They're so relaxing!!
This is the most recent picture of Sassy, from Feb '03.

The picture above is Colt, another horse that I ride. Well, I don't have time to ride him very often anymore between work and my horse, even though I wish I had time to! He's a Quarter Horse/App cross, about 16 hands, and 1200lbs. Ok, his name isn't really Colt, that's just what we call him...his registered name is Joker's Red Jacket. You'll never guess it, but Colt was born in 1982, he's 20 years old now (his birthday is in April). He looks like he's about a 10 year old though! I ride him mostly western, but I used to ride english and sometimes I ride bareback. Now it's just pleasure riding and trail riding. That's the most fun type of riding!

My friend Linda created this pic from the one that is above. What do you think? I think he's in a much better climate than we are!

These are some other pictures of me and Colt. My mom took these in August of 2001.

My best friend Colleen also has 2 Quarter Horses, Teddy and Prince. Prince is a now an 18 year old sorrel, and Teddy's a 9 year old palomino. Gee, can you guess which one is below??

Rachel is a volunteer at the HORSE Rescue where I have my horse, she's another one of my best friends. She adopted a really pretty 12 year old appaloosa gelding named Chance. He's blind, but he does great on rides. His ground manners are awful though, he's got separation anxiety, but we've been working with him and he's finally starting to come around. This is Rachel's senior picture.

Here we are, ready to head out for a winter ride, Dec. '02

Of course, you've got to check out the site for H.O.R.S.E. Rescue and Sanctuary. This is where I live, with Mike and Chris Dodge. Check it out, and if you're from this area and want to volunteer, or adopt, or send donations, feel free to contact them.
