It was 2'o'clock AM, July 9, 2000 when Naxi called our still waking friend Alyssa, frightened.
"Alyssa, please don't hang up. Please...please I'm begging you don't hang up. Oh God...Oh God..." Her voice was shaking and it sounded as if she'd been crying.
It took a while before she could get Naxi to speak.
"Look, dude...okay I have this black dress, and -- and I put it on my bed," Naxi admitted, stuttering. "My mom, she told me to put it away and I did...I hung it in my closet like she told me to, and when I passed by my room, it was on the bed again. Alyssa, I swear to God I hung that dress up. I'm home alone, dude. My mom and sister and cousins won't be back till noon and the house is mine for the whole night. I'm alone. But--but I hung it up again, and everytime it would reapear on my bed, and it's there again. It's there again, Alyssa, and I'm getting so scared. I don't know what's going on."
They talked again for a while and Naxi began to calm down.
When they both thought things were all better, Naxi screamed a blood curdling scream and Alyssa dropped the phone. At this point, Lyss was ready to wake up her sister so that they could drive over to Naxi's house a be of some company. After picking up the phone, she asked,
They stayed up until Naxi felt safe. It was not until 7 AM and the sun was up that she decided to hang up and go to sleep.
Naxi never called Alyssa again, not for three days. It wasn't until Alyssa called her that they ever spoke again.
"Hey, how'd the whole dress thing turn out?"
Naxi laughed, "Hehe, what?"
"You remember, you called me about three nights ago and were scared off your ass 'cause your black dress kept reappearing."
"How'd you know I had a black dress? I never called you. You're crazy," Naxi continued to laugh.
"Yeah, man, it's because you were home alone and would be until noon."
"How'd you know that?"
"I just said, you told me."
"Alyssa, I never called your house, especially not at two in the morning."
"Naxi, I swear to God you called my house. It's even on the caller ID."
And as Alyssa checked through the list of the calls, she noticed something -- Naxi's number wasn't there any more, and no one had touched the ID. Proof was there.
Alyssa told me about this today, four days after the incident, July 13. Naxi called me on the tenth to welcome me home from my trip. Now I know why she never mentioned the black dress.
She doesn't remember it.
If anyone has any idea of what may have happened to my friend, please tell me! Look for my contact page and my contact stuff is there. We've already considered sleep walking, but she seemed to be so aware of what was going on. So drop me a line if you have any idea.
"Naxi, it's okay, I won't. What's wrong, is everything okay?"
"Oh God...oh my God..."
"Naxi -- c'mon man, what's going on? What are you doing calling so late?"
"No, you don't understand...oh God. Please just stay with me, alright?"
"Of course, sure, alright I'll stay. Tell me whats going on."
"Why don't you just leave it on your bed?" answered a sympathetic Alyssa.
"Yeah...yeah, okay I'll just leave it there. Then things will be okay."
"Naxi?! Nax, what the hell happened?"
"Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God..."
"Nax, come on, man."
"Alyssa, I left the dress on the bed, and now..."
"Now what?"
"There's another dress beside it."
"What?!"
"There's another dress, it's a white dress next to the black one and I don't have a white dress."
"Nax, do you want me to come over, dude?"
After a moment of silence. "No...no, its okay."
