Generation No. 6

19. Solomon6 Cady (Luther5, Jonathan4, Joseph3, Nicholas2, Nicholas1) was born Abt. 1774 in Killingly, Windham, Conn., and died 1818 in Sandlake, Rens., NY. He married Hannah.

Notes for Solomon Cady:

Another document authorizing the sale of the property

of Royal Cady, who has been an habitual drunkard

(1821-1826), by the Guardians of that property, namely

Ellis Foster & Henry Searls.

You should understand that the land in Sand Lake was

leased from Stephen Van Rensselaer and could be sold -

and it appears that Henry Searls was the leasee who

then sold to Calvin and Hannah sold hers back to Henry

Searls, which may or may not suggest that Hannah was a

Searls.

The conclusion that I draw from this is:

Hannah was the widow of Solomon, not the wife of Royal

and Royal may not have been married at all and after

the sale of his property he moved in with Hannah and

her family.

If Royal had been married and his wife alive when his

property was sold, she would have been mentioned.

There was a MRS. CADY who died in August of 1854, who

may or may not have been Hannah.

A DEED for CALVIN T. CADY and his wife CATHARINE as

grantor on 29 Apr 1852 and Jacob Dingman, grantee.

It states that the 9 1/2 acres in Poestenkill is next

to land belonging to HANNAH CADY.

Probate of Solomon Cady of Sand Lake, Rens. Co.

recorded 11 Apr 1818 naming his wife HANNAH; his

son, CALVIN, and his daughters, JULIA, PERUS, CHLOE, &

an infant daughter not named.

Exec.: Royal Cady, Otis Gould, & Ellis Foster.

Notes for Hannah:

In 1830 Hannah is head of household with 1 male age

20-30 and 1 male age 50-60 and 1 female age 30-40 and

1 female age 70-80 (this may be Luther's wife or

Hannah's mother).
