The Forebrain

The Forebrain is the largest part of the brain, and is also the most highly developed portion of the brain. It is composed of 5 parts:
  1. The Thalamus- which relays and translates information from all of the senses except smell, to higher levels of the brain.
  2. The Hypothalamus- Regulates the piutary gland and in charge of basic drives such as temperature, feeding, sexual behavior, rage and thirst.
  3. Corpus Callosum- Enormous communication network that connects the right and left cerebral hemispheres
  4. Limbic System- Related structure that control emotion, motivation, and memory. It contains the:
  5. The Cerebrum- responsible for complex mental activities. Its outer surface is the Cereberal Cortex and is divide into two hemispheres. And contains four major lobes.
