The Forever Knight

It is my job
to answer the call of "help" being heeded.
I must run to the person
if a protector is needed.
I will fight their problems
although they may become my own.
I have no fear.
What can you take from a man who has no home
When was the last time I used tht word?
It was when i left that horrible place.
it's been so long
they probably wouldn't even recognized my face.
It was there that I realized
that i was born a martyr,
one who dies for a cause that they care about.
I didn't take my final breath
Except, i didn't die and in the physical sense
What I did experience was my mental death.
The death of the boy within,
the birth of the warrior on the outside.
It happened when all the worlds collided.
That's why I walk the path.
This path in all my shining armor.
Never to take it off
not even when the seasons are warmer.
That's why I walk the path holding my trusty blade
never waiting for the thanks
after the help I gave.
That's why I walk this path with my shield with my
ndividual crest
