The Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Red Hot Chili Peppers first formed in 1983 in California, by Hillel Slovak, Jack Irons and Flea who were friends from Fairfax High School. Soon after they were joined by fellow friend, Anthony Kiedis and formed a band called, "Anthym". For their first gig as a foursome, Anthym renamed themselves , "Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem". After their performance, they decided to change their name once and for all to the, Red Hot Chili Peppers.
On June 27 1988, Hillel overdosed on heroin. That was just too much for Jack Irons to cope with, so he left the band. This left Anthony and Flea wondering about the future of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Several weeks had passed before Anthony and Flea would get back together to continue with their love for music. This brought in John Frusciante and Chad Smith. In 1991 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' was released and The Peppers were on top of the world. After such a success (and commercial success) with Blood Sugar Sex Magik, John had left the band because of personal demons. Finding themselves without a guitarist brought in many replacements, but the bond that they had with Hillel and John, was just not there. Dave Navarro joined the band for the recording of, ‘One Hot Minute”.
After Dave Navarro left the band in 1998, it was a re-awakening, and the Poppy Man, had returned. The Peppers had regrouped with their phenomenal guitarist John Frusciante and have continued to amaze us all.
With the release of Californication, I believe it showed just how much as a band and individually they had all grown. With the opportunity to see them live (again with John), it was magical. From the opening with Around the World, to the close of Sir Psycho Sexy, the Peppers had kept me on my feet the entire time.
Now we are patiently waiting with much anticipation for the release of By The Way, which I know is going to be yet another terrific album by the greatest band in the whole world! See you all around the world!
