WEAPON STRATEGIES

The WEAPONS are super strong creatures used by the Ancients (Cetra) to protect the planet. They even stronger than Sephiroth! The WEAPONS are released when you first go into the Crater, and Cloud gives Sephiroth the Black Materia. (They fly out when The Crater explodes)

There are four WEAPONS in the American version of FF7:Diamond, Ultimate, Ruby, and Emerald.

DIAMOND WEAPON

The Diamond Weapon emerges from the water after you leave the City of the Ancients for the second time. (with Buggenhagen) It will land on the coast near Midgar. You will have to get out of the Highwind to fight it. For an easy battle, it is recommended that you have Knights of the Round Materia, or everyone in your party's Ultimate Limit Breaks, so if you don't have those you should use this opportunity to try to get these things. RECOMMENDED HP FOR FIGHT: About 5500

If you have KOR Materia, than you should simply cast that for an easy halt to the WEAPON's attack...ShinRa will do the rest

ULTIMATE WEAPON

This is one of the easier WEAPONS. You will have many encounters with this creature, your first one under Cid's command, before you are able to get KOR. You should try to get as many Limit Breaks as possible...especially Catastrophe for Barret...that does alot of damage. You should also try to get the strongest summon spells possible...NEO Bahamut works fairly well, but Knights of the Round is a must have. RECOMMENDED HP FOR FIGHT: About 5500

After Ultimate WEAPON flies away from you at Mideel, you will have at least three more encounters with the beast...you should wait until Cloud "finds himself" so you can try to get a gold Chocobo for KOR...that will make it alot easier to defeat it, because it cannot heal itself after a battle.

Once you do, you will first find him hovering over the lake near Junon. You should simply cast KOR on it to make it fly away. When it does, quickly heal yourself and chase after it. You will not take damage for running into it...actually, that will help it choose a destination faster...

The Weapon dosn't just stop anywhere. It usually stops: Over Midgar, Over Mideel, Over Gongaga, Over Nibelheim, and over its final resting place...Cosmo Canyon. Use the same skill every battle...KOR. After you defeat it at Cosmo Canyon, a crater will be formed up to a plateau on which lies the FOREST OF THE ANCIENS...which is an optional section, but can be used for some very useful items, weapons, etc.

RUBY WEAPON

The Ruby WEAPON is another fairly easy fight...if you have the right materia. The Ruby WEAPON can be found only after you beat the Ultimate WEAPON. It is the little red thing popping out of the sand in the desert around the Gold Saucer. You can run into it either on the Highwind or on the Gold Chocobo. RECOMMENDED HP FOR BATTLE: Over 9000

This fight can get tricky if you don't plan things out ahead of time. First equip Cloud with the Apocalypse. In the materia slots put Mime and two other materia that you want to get  leveled     up... (i.e. low level Materia)You can have any armor, as long as it has at least four linked slots, and one unlinked.

How to obtain these Materia:

MIME: Materia cave south of Wutai (Green, Black, or Gold -Chocobo- required)

Knights of the Round: Materia cave in North-East Ocean (Gold -Chocobo- required)

HP Absorb: After the Wutai scenario, go to the Cat house and up the stairs. Down the hall there is a chest with th HP Absorb materia in it.

Hades: After aquiring the submarine, go to the crashed Gelnika. In the cargo bay, this summon is located under the broken submarine.

Quadra Magic: Materia cave near Mideel (Blue, Black or Gold -Chocobo- required)

W-Summon: Battle arena in Gold Saucer. Cost: 64,000BP (Battle Points) (refer to -Side Quests-)

It is very important that you have the right materia and the right slots, because ALL your materia will be needed for this fight.

MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT EQUIP ANY COUNTER ATTACK MATERIA OR YOU WILL MIME THAT INSTEAD OF THE SUMMON SPELLS

BATTLE STRATEGY:

First go into a regular fight, NOT the Ruby fight, and kill the two party members that you don't want to fight the WEAPON, to prevent it from using its quicksand attack. (which eliminates one living party member from the battle, and could result in a game over if Cloud is eliminated) Then save your game, and either fly the Highwind or run a Chocobo into the head of the moster. IF you killed all of your party except for Cloud, it will dig its claws into the sand. If you didn't it will cast quicksand twice, eliminating two party members from the fight. When its claws are in the sand, W-Summon Knights of the Round and then Hades. KOR will take a good amount of health away from RUBY, and Hades will be cast four times, eventually paralyzing RUBY itself, and then its claws. Don't worry if RUBY casts Ultima before you can cast Hades, because once you do, it will be paralyzed, and you will get to Mime KOR again, which if you attached it to HP Absorb, will Absorb around 9000 HP back into you. NEVER interrupt your chain of spells to cure yourself...you may not be able to start the chain again.

ORDER OF ACTIONS:

1. W-Summon KOR and Hades

2. Mime that W-Summon

3. Continue that chain untill RUBY WEAPON dies

EMERALD WEAPON

The Emerald Weapon can also be a difficult or an easy opponent, depending upon the approach you take to fight it. For instance, this should be the last Weapon you fight...even after Ruby. If you have already fought ruby with the battle strategy  previous to this one, you should have all the materia and weapons you need, EXCEPT for 'Underwater' materia, which you get from the Kalm Travelerafter morphing a Ghost Ship in the underwater reactor. If you haven't, read the RUBY section to find out what you need. RECCOMENDED HP: 9999 FOR ALL CHARACTERS

Since you did what I told you and equipped mime materia in your Apocolypse Sword, you should now have at least two mime materia. Knights of the Round should also be at least at its second level. Equip the new mime to your second strongest character, and make sure you DO NOT equip any counter attack materia to anyone...it will screw up the whole system.

Battle Strategy: Have Cloud cast W-Summon KOR twice, and if you did what I told you the spell will absorb the HP taken away from Emerald. Then mime the spell with a second character, and then with Cloud again. If you have 3 mime materia then have your third character mime the spell. If not than don't do anything with the third character...just use him/her as a target so Emerald doesn't just focus his attacks on the important characters. Continue this chain...and never stop to cure any characters...the important ones will be cured by the HP Absorb materia linked to the Knights of the Round...YOU DID REMEMBER TO LINK THE HP ABSORB WITH THE   KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND, DIDN'T YOU!
