Wonder Square is the first place to go in the Gold Saucer the First time around. Here you will meet Cait Sith, and if you go inside, you can play games to gain GP. (Gold Points) Everything here is paid for with gil, which is makes this a good place to start your trip.
Speed Square Cost: 10 GP. You cannot start out here, unless you have some GP. This is a roller-coaster ride, where the object is to shoot as many things as you possibly can. If you get over 3000 points, you get a prize.
Battle Arena Cost: 10 GP. Again, you cannot do anything here (except Dio's museum) without any GP. The point is to fight as many battles as you can, in order to get as many BP (Battle Points) as you can, so you can get as many prizes as you can. (Omnislash (Cloud's Ultimate Limit Break):32,000 BP; and W-Summon Materia) Once you get those two, you can enter a special battle series agaist the bosses in the game.
Early in the game, you can go to the Chocobo Forum to bet on chocobo races. You can get a decent amount of GP for winning, but the odds are low. Once you breed chocobos of your own (Disc 2 and 3) you can go to the Racing Forum, and talk to Ester. She will set up races for you. The Higher your Chocobo's class is (the classes are C, B, A, and S) the better chances you will have of breeding a good chocobo.
Ghost Hotel Cost: 10 GP. Rest up in between events or to prepare for Battle Square. When the Ropeway breaks down, it is free.
Event Square Cost: 0 GP. This area can only be interacted with once, when Cloud and another AVALANCHE member go on a date. You can play along if you like, but it is far more fun to mess it up.
Gondola Ride Cost: 5 GP for two people. Just a chance to see Gold Saucer from a different point of view.
