6 is poor!
66 is average!
666 is worth playing to the ANCIENT ONES!

Penance- Parallel Corners
I put this CD on with hopes of it being good but from the first song, Words Not Deeds, I had this overwhelming feeling to puke. They remind me a little of the current C.O.C and some other band I canít remember, oh yeah, CATHEDRAL and guess what, Lee Dorian has something to do with this. Thereís a semi-good ballad here, Destroyed By One, but donít bother unless you like a Cathedral clone.
Wow! An energetic band, they sound like a mix of hardcore/ thrash. The song Misery is intense! Their flaw is that they sound somewhat like most of the hardcore bands. But the energy in their music is great. I would enjoy attending one of their concerts!
The Strange-Mordid Days
Donít be fooled, this is not gothic music, nor is it death metal as they would like you to believe, theyíre plain rock & roll, somewhat reminiscent of Trouble. Theyíre not bad, the production is good but they can barely hold my attention.
Strange Things- 13 Keen Court, Brooklyn, NY11229 USA ( Crypt 13)
A boring Swedish death metal band. Joakim (the vocalist) at times, sounds like heís just barking, the drumming is very limited, you hear the bass in one song mostly and Matt and Larís guitar playing is mediocre. Nothing here I havenít heard before.
This Canadian all female death/ grind band deals with respect for nature towards nature and they have original lyrics. They have a song dedicated to BILLY HOLIDAY, She Sang the Blues. Stephanie needs to work on her vocals, when she screeches she becomes annoying, Verosí guitar is o.k., Annieís drumming is too repetitive. This could be better with more effort.
Internal Bleeding-Perpetual Degradation
This is definitely the best underground death metal band there is. This release contains four songs that are ultrafast, production is great. This is a must for all death metal legions.
Wild Rags/ Metal Merchant Records
Technical black metal gods return with a totally different style of music which actually fits them. This album sounds like it has been influenced by IRON MAIDEN. Great guitar works and the music gets depressing at times. This is a classic!!!
El Pecado- Angel de mi Guardia
Translated to English, the bandís name is Ďthe siní and the title of their album is Ďmy guardian angelí. Hey, itís a BRUJERIA influenced band! They are more brutal than Brujeria, a must if you their music. Good production.
Mike Coles- PO Box 603, Anna, IL, 62906 USA
Suiciety-Stains & Omissions
A new underground band. This is a great demo with songs resembling bands like MY DYING BRIDE/ SEPULTURA. The music has a hardcore style to it and it is good but the production needs a little help.
Centinex-Under the Blackened Sky
Punishing death metal from Sweden. Ultrafast and heavy to make your stomach bleed, good production, good music.
This band sounds like SEPULTURA. They are really good, strong music, good production and excellent musical organization.
Nuclear Death For our Dead
Excellent chaos from Lori and co. Fast, furious and twisted horror influenced death metal. This is something you must check out! This contains four gory songs to appease many. This woman was quite ahead of her time.
Vampire Circus-self titled
Beautiful music in the gothic rock vein. There are four songs on this demo. The guitars are somewhat repetitive but the mix of male/ female vocals are beautifully executed. Worth checking out. (Created by the ex-keyboardist of Acheron, John Scott.)
Order of the Ninth Age
They return with a new musical style gothic/ metal. It is a very dark album, gloomy. It is very powerful, even better than itís predecessor. A must for the depressed.
My Dying Bride-The Angel and The Dark River
Talented! A totally different style, also gothic/ metal like CEMETARY. This new one has awesome songs but no growl, thatís sad. I think Turn Loose the Swans is the best to date. But this is a must for all those into this band.
Judecca-Scenes of an Absent Death
I found this king of boring. A regular death metal band that sounds like a fucked up vacuum cleaner. Production is bad, not well organized.
Black / satanic metal from Mexico, very original and haunting. Good organization. Check these guys out and see what I mean.
Julio C. Escobedo H. APDP. I-521, C.P. 44101 Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico
Graveyard-Vacation Dinner At the Morgue
A four song demo of grindcore/doom with a demonic twist. And why not? Itís an excellent idea! The inner cover caushg my attention, it practically describes GRAVEYARDís musical (or noise) style. Fun and gory!
Custodian Killer- PO Box 960, Shoreman, NY 11786 Usa
Solitude Aeturnus-Through the Darkest Hour
The third album of these doom metal gods. This is a little slower than their usual stuff but all these albums are musically great.. Great riffs, heavy songs and great ballads that will make you jump off a bridge (of course we donít condone that, tee hee). Amazing vocals as always.
Doom gods return with a musical style of gothic/ doom. I actually like this album. Very talented, although not better than CLOUDS. Check it out.
Lividity- Ritual of Mortal Impalement
Weird fuckiní death metal with odd vocals, something different. The production needs help but musically this is decent.
Hellbound-Transcend the Flesh
Decent demo, old school thrash metal with good production. J.D. (vocalist) sounds like Kreatorís vocalist! They are very intense live. The demo is ok. Four songs and an intro. Worth checking out.
Two songs Kill the World and The Mirror Shattered. Not original but strong and good! The bass sounds funny as if the bassist is lost, he starts annoying me after a while. But bassist aside, they are good. Lose the bassist!
Heavy, satanic, and making me proud! Eight satanic death metal anthems, rituallistically stimulating while still strong enough to convey the anger of a satanic crowd and a death metal crowd. Well executed!
Metal Merchant Records
Deep, black metal, this isnít new but it sure is worth listening to. If you can get a hold of this youíll be in bliss or should I say the abyss! Pure anger and hatred. A fire is burning high in the black metal realm and Darkthrone started it.
This is very good! A lot of variety like hardcore/ thrash. The music is good, as wellas the production. The vocals need a little help. Should be great to see live.
Endoki Forest -Moondances/ Dusk of the Serpent
13 odd atmospheric pieces from Faunus of Mastema. Somewhat repetitive but very enjoyable. This could use better production. Hmm, competition for Mortiis?
Dracul, Order of the Dragon
Basically, this band falls under the category of doom/thrash. The vocals sound a bit like the poser singer from Metallica (James). The production is good and the band has potential. The music is good.
Sigillum S-Bedscanner Philosophy: An Updated Boudoir Mode
An experimental/ industrial band from Milan, Italy. Very atmospheric and definitely strange! I love Ďem! This is a CD from 1992 and it still sounds good!
This is a black/ death metal band which is terrible! The production on this demo is no good. The guitars sound like a vacuum cleaner and there is no bass. News is this is just a rehearsal tape, so letís see what Robin Mazen can do with the next one.
This band sounds like Queensryche, actually they sound too much like them. I thatís what you like then youíd enjoy this but they should try to personalize their own style.
Grief-Come to Grief
I only enjoy reading the lyrics to this. Oh, itís hardcore/ doom/ death?! Itís very boring! Itís not bad, just very boring. If thatís what you like, suit yourself.
Funeral Oration- demo í94
Yes! This is the way I enjoy my music, RAW! INTENSE! And EXTREMELY FAST (well, not always)! Theyíre Italian blasphemik metal. This is very enjoyable! Get it!
These death metal veterans return with a disappointing album compared to their last efforts. Itís not that bad. There are some parts where Johnny (vocals) wants to sound like hardcore, itís not working. The best songs are Legal Rapes and Hail The New Age.
This demo is excellent! The music is a variety of truly gothic, death, and primitive explosions! The best mix of goth and death Iíve ever heard! Strong vocals and a stimulating array of musical elements.
Chorozon/ Veil of Thorns
Emperor-In the Nightside Eclipse
Their first full length album. The cover art is as mystical as the music these Norwegian black metal warriors have unleashed here! If you havenít checked out Emperor, you should be crucified, now! With songs like Beyond The Great Vast Forest and Inno A Satana theyíll have you in infinite thoughts!
Century Black (Century Media)
English Dogs-Bow to None
Wakey, the vocalist, sounds like Lemmy of Motorhead, at times. Supposedly this is not a new band, and their attempt to come back isnít worth the effort. They have a style of their own and theyíre goodÖfor someone else but not for me.
Hereís an excellent punk band! Supposedly they arenít new either but Century Media has re-released this great album, a good idea in my opinion. The best songs here are White Noise, Ghost Town, and War Hero. According to their band bio. They have influenced the HC scene. Biohazard take note!
Thrash metal which reminds me of FORBIDDEN. This has ten songs! Good production and a must for thrashers.
Deeds of Flesh-Gradually Melted
Cannibal Corpse wanna-bes, great production, good grind, 4 songs. A must for Cannibal Corpse lover.
D.O.F.-PO Box 6544, Los Osos, CA 93412 USA
Veil of Thorns-LEGEMET og STEMMEN
Excellent gothic music. Quite ghoulish vocals, good production, weird and somewhat majestic. Just check it out to see what I mean.
Veil of Thorns/ Choronzon
Great doom metal from the Netherlands. This release contains fives songs that are a must for those into PARADISE LOST and any kind of doom metal for that matter. I found them very impressive!
Mastema-Blood of Kingu
This is their first official demo. I happen to have another version with three songs which was really crappy. With this version you can hear the improvement. Five songs of chaotic songs and one enchanting intro called Judgement of Set. They could be described as a mix of doom/death/ black metal yet they definitely need better production and less distortion which gets in the way of their music. They lyrics are excellent and intriguing. The vocals are well executed by Tiniebla and Vampiro. This is only their first demo, stick around. Raw mayhem, just the way I like it.
Dracul-Order of the Dragon
Aurora-The Land of Harm and Appletrees
Dancible gothic music. Mesmerizing male/ female vocals, somewhat operatic, very experimental, many different ideas are incorporated here. It is reminiscent of LESTAT/ DEAD CAN DANCE. Aurora even have dolphin/birds sounds in the background of their most dramatic songs, it doesnít take away anything from their music. You are commanded to check this out!
The Musical Works of The NCS-Vol. 1
Melodic gothic. Truly atmospheric music, opera-type vocals, excellently mixed with primitive drum beats. This is quite experimental, music for ritualistic purposes. Bells, keyboards, etcÖbut truly worth a listen.
Thou Art Lord -The Cult of the Horned One
This demo has been out for a while now, but I decided to review it anyway. Itís about time we have a black metal band from Greece (Hail Brothers!)! This demo has three songs of true black metal. Great production, great music and brutal vocals. These are the rising gods of black metal! A must!
PO Box 79022, 17202, Himittos, Athens-Greece
