"And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise.
The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt."- Sylvia Plath
And she is right about that. Sylvia Plath is one of the poets I enjoy and I also find her life fascinating. Her story moved me when I first encountered her poem and then her biography.
A woman torn between being independent and being dependent. She was an American Novelist born on October 27, 1932 and ended her life in 1963. Someone already made the movie on her life "Sylvia." I haven't watched it yet. What intrigued me about her was her poem "Daddy" which portrayed the imagery of father and husband as monsterous. Her life was a tragedy, but she took that tragedy and turned it into art through writing.
I think everyone lives in a form of comedy/tragedy. This is life. To create something out of it, to do something productive with it, to find ways to enjoy this life and make those closest to you feel that enjoyment is YOUR mission in this life.
Could her death have been avoided? Well, we don't have control over everything, sometimes you have to let go. We all have different ways of dealing with this life and sometimes it intertwines with someone elses and creates chaos.
Yet, wouldn't life be mundane without a little turmoil here and there. It's a challenge. Life is simply a rollercoaster ride. Some of us choose to end the ride too soon, and some of us choose to go for the whole ride and see what is at the end of it all. I hope most of you will stick around and make of this life, the best possible.
I'd like to thank everyone who has made life worth living. What's this all about? Lucifera's emotional rant? Perhaps. Just enjoy the great interviews in issue 19 with bands who are reaching for the most life has to offer.
Enjoy the Season of Samhain!
