The Great Donald Grant DeMan Short Story Writing Contest Donald Grant DeMan's short story writing contest is over. Donald Grant and yours truly, the editor, are thrilled with the number of entries sent in - - - fifteen in all - - - We are extremely pleased not only with the number of stories but with quality of the work. Here's a word of "Phew!" from Donald Grant DeMan: (as he announces the winning entries and their authors.)
Contest Winners Announced
Judges ChoicesWe take great pleasure in announcing the six winners of our Short Story Contest as follows:
Ann Pottle Dolin #4171
Dee Walmsley #4092
John F. Clennan #4172
Kathryn Jennings-Hancock #401
Joseph P. Infranco #4021
Rosemary Bowery #4071
These choices are the results of careful reading and choices of the judges and are final. The first three authors shall receive a Donald Grant DeMan Pacific West Coastal scenic oil painting, the next three a heavy colorful West Coast crochet piece by L. Diane DeMan.
The learned judges alone are responsible for these choices, they do not necessarily reflect our personal tastes. Just a point here that though we all on mass may agree or disagree with these results, these are the winners and we congratulate them. All fifteen fine authors, however, performed remarkable work for which we and all our readers thank you.
But our largest heart of gratitude goes out to Bill Loeppky without whom, to paraphrase Joe Infranco, we would not exist! Smiles. Donald Grant DeMan
Donald Grant DeMan, if you are not aware, is a man perfectly suited to this sort of thing, having been a teacher of writing. He has had the experience and is quite capable in his own right of evaluating the work. However, it was decided to have a number of judges do this task, and task it was! The evaluating is over, results have are in, it has been a bushel of work, but enjoyable never-the-less
Inditer.com and Donald Grant DeMan and your editor wish to thank all the participants for sending in their work. We hope all who participated enjoyed this little exercise, designed only for fun......Bill
Here are the 15 stories received: The numbers are the code numbers which were known only to Donald Grant DeMan. It was these numbers that were given to the judges and they were the only means of identifying the authors. As mentioned earlier, judges have evaluated, they have chosen the winning entries. As Donald Grant DeMan said, we may not necessarily agree with the decisions, but decisions they are and we abide by them. Donald Grant DeMan will be in touch with all participants very soon.As you can well imagine this was a monumental task. We are indebted to the judges....none of whom are connected to or concerned with Inditer.com, but who took on this task only as a favour to Donald Grant DeMan and your Editor. The stories are:
