Intruduction to Tarantulas

Great Things about Tarantulas

Tarantulas are amazing animals. There cheap, don't need attendance all the time, and aren't evil like some people think. Only a hand full of arachnids can inject poison into peoples skin and an even fewer number can cause serious pain.

Most tarantulas can inject poison into human skin. Though I have never been bit, people say that it feels like a bad bee sting. No tarantula has ever been known to actually kill a human. Another defense of tarantulas is when they kick up hairs from their abdomen at you. If you are very sensitive to them you may get swollen eyes or even breathing problems. But it's main defense is running away. They most likely will not bite or kick hairs unless they are annoyed, handled them bad (handling is not recommended), or another reason. Compared to some other pets it is not to dangerous, remember you never know when your cute, cuddly hamster can go totally crazy killing your whole family!

Anatomy

Spiders don't have internal skeletons, but an exoskeleton. They have four pairs of legs, a head and thorax attached together called the cephalothorax, and an abdomen, a very soft vulnerable part of the body.

When purchasing a tarantula make sure you know all about it. I have a general care sheet in my pages and a rose hair care sheet (more in the future).

Here are a list of beginner tarantulas

1. Chilean Rose Hair (Grammostola rosea)

2. Curly Hair

3. Pink Toe

4. Mexican Red Knee
