A Deadly Game

By: Serena

Disclaimer: I don't own Buffy, Angel, Willow, Xander, Oz, Cordelia, Giles, Spike, Dru, Joyce, Kendra, and Jenny, they belong to Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, the WB, and 20th Century Fox.  I'm just playing with them, I promise to put them back after I'm done.  I do own Leonna, Arianna, and all the other gypsies I made up, though.  Please don't sue me, I just spent all my money on new clothes and I don't think you big hot-shot guys will look good in capri pants and tank tops.

Author's Notes: Okay, guys, this is the last story in my little trilogy.  This follows Another Chance and Vanishing Act so I suggest reading those first.  Things could get a little confusing.  I've made up everything about the gypsy clan.  I tried to be as accurate as possible, but this is fiction, so bare with me.  I've never been to Romania either, but I did *research* it.  Yay me.  And yes, I know how to speak English, the old woman in my story can't talk too good, it's not me or my writing.  Thoughts are in italics.  Feedback means the world to me, and I will love you forever if you give me some!!!  I'm thinking of doing a fluff series as a sort of spin-off to this and would like to know if I should or not.

Prologue

"All right," Rupert Giles said, walking out of the cockpit into the main part of the plane.  "We just reached our maximum altitude and are now on our way across the Pacific.  We should be reaching our destination in about," he paused, glancing at his watch.  "A day or so."

"Is this the official 'seat belt sign is now turned off' notice?  'Cause I gotta use the ladies room," Buffy Summers said, undoing her seat belt and jumping out of her plush leather seat.  She turned to Giles before heading to the bathroom.  "Giles, this plane is really cool.  Any chance the Council will let us keep it?"

"Yeah, we can go save Hawaii from the big bad volcanoes or something," Xander Harris piped in.

"Or go to Paris and go shopping!" Cordelia Chase squealed.  Giles gave them a pained look.

"I highly doubt the Council would...appreciate that.  This plane is strictly for business--"

"Yeah," Xander said.  "Business.  Uh huh.  Sure.  We're on to you, buddy," he shook his finger at Giles.  "Now we know what you Watchers really do.  Take this plane and go to Vegas."

Giles smiled faintly and turned to go back to the cockpit, where Katrina was overseeing the flying.  Buffy disappeared into the bathroom, but not before she went over into the corner where Angelus sat behind a thick curtain, strapped into a chair.

"You're awfully quiet," she remarked with a smile.  He just growled at her.

"You just wait," he retorted.  "You'll get what's coming to you."

"No, honey, I'm afraid you'll get what's coming to you.  This is getting really old,2 she sighed, tossing her blond hair behind her shoulder.  "I miss Angel.  I can't wait to get him back."

"You change me, I'll just get changed back," he spat back, his eyes glowing yellow.  She just laughed.

"That's what you think, babe," she said, patting his head in a sign of power.  "That's what you think."

Leonna stood in the middle of the large room, fuming.  She held a letter in her hands that the Slayer had discreetly placed in the old factory.  Her anger rolled off of her in waves, threatening to engulf all who came near.  She was gazing at it when she felt a presence behind her.

"Why does this always happen when I have plans?" she asked quietly, dangerously, not looking up.  The blond vampire shrugged.

"I have no idea, pet.  The damn Slayer and her annoying friends always find a way to screw things up royally.  They really get on my nerves," Spike said as he walked up to Leonna and took the letter out of her hands.

"Let's see, 'It's a game of tag, and guess who's it'," he read.  " 'Catch us if you can.'  Well, that's helpful," he said, turning his gaze on Leonna.  She stood still, her emotions clear on her face.  Anger, hatred, the need for revenge.  She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, muttering something in a language lost long ago.  She gasped suddenly and opened her eyes, a small smile creeping onto her blood red lips.

"What is it, love?  You look like the bloody cat who ate the canary," Spike said.  She just looked at him.

"I'm on to them.  They think they're so smart.  They're on a plane, darling, a plane headed to Romania.  And they have my Angelus.  Come, we must be quick.  They have quite a lead on us," she said, looking away suddenly.  She took the note out of Spike1s hand and crumpled it in her fist.

"Umm...Lee?  What's the big deal?  Why not just wait until they get back from their little vacation?" Spike asked.

Leonna looked at him again with a fire burning in her eyes.  "Because I will not let them win."

Flying halfway around the world is fun.
