By MIKE SCHERTING Sports Editor
The Magic City Snowbears
Rick Ross, who most recently

on the bench for the 1997-98 International Basketball
Association season, which begins Nov. 29 for Magic City.

The Snowbears had narrowed
the selection to three finalists before
choosing Ross.
''We know we did a real good search
because two of the guys got hired by
NBA teams,'' said Tom Anderson,
one of the Snowbears owners. ''We know
we're getting a top-notch guy.
Coach Rick Ross plays the type of basketball
that we like
-- fast, up-tempo.
And also what he's done with every team he's coached in
the USBL is he's gotten his players
chances at the next level.''
Anderson added that he talked with
several of last year's Snowbears who
want to return this year and that
Ross appeared to be
the type of coach the
players would respond to.

Anderson, are Calvin Rayford,
Bryant Basemore, Kenyon Murray, Johnelle
Sloan, Darrell Parker and Ryan Hoover.
Ross
is expected to do
scouting and pre-season work
on his return from Seoul Korea in North Carolina
