Michael Keaton portrayed Bruce Wayne as a reclusive, brooding millionaire. Keaton probably provided the best contrast between Wayne and Batman, because Bruce Wayne was kind of bumbling and goofy at times, and of course Michael Keaton seems like the average Joe. Kevin Conroy, the voice actor behind the animated Batman, does an interesting thing in distinguishing between Bruce and Batman. Bruce's voice is higher, friendlier, whereas Batman's is much deeper and darker. So what voice does he use when he's alone, or with Alfred or Dick? He uses the Batman voice. Suggesting that Batman is real, and Bruce Wayne is the disguise. Deep stuff, for a "kiddie show."
