Exclusive Mtv News 1515 Interview!

JOHN: Are alligators a problem around here?

ALL: Yeah, oh yeah.

JOHN: About the Christmas record, you were telling me that it was sort of half new stuff, half covers?

JOEY: Yeah, there are 4 or 5 songs that are class classical stuff, 7 originals and it's cool because it's very diverse like our album. It's got an a capella version of "O Holy Night." It's got up tempo stuff, it's got ballads and it's got one song that's really hard r&b.

JOHN: Is there a video?

JC: We did a Christmas single too and we did a video for that. There's a surprise in that. A comedic surprise...It's a guest star that everyone will like to see again. We'll let you watch it.

JOHN: Orlando seems kinda' like a small town...

CHRIS: Everybody knows Joey.

JC: Yeah. He is Mr. Popular.

JUSTIN: If you think about it, it's a little bit like L.A. in the sense that everybody knows everybody because of entertainment.

JC: It's just a different gig down here because there are so many opportunities here with all the theme parks being open, and you've got the singing and dancing gigs so there are plenty of opportunities for everybody.

CHRIS: It really is a meltingpot of talent because there's so much music, theater, so much opportunities. It really is a small town because everybody knows each other because of the business.

JOHN: Has Orlando helped to shape your image?

JC: Our image really is ourselves. You know, gangbangers preach about their lives in the streets and they're role models to their street people. As far as us, we're kids from the suburbs and we're singing about having a good time. Because we want to have a good time and we want everyone with us to have a good time.

JOHN: So, Justin, are you ready to show me the car that I've heard so much about?

JUSTIN: Allright, I'll show it to ya.

JUSTIN: Maybe I should get the keys...

JOHN: That would help.

JUSTIN: Check it out. Don't be trying to get my license plate on camera or I'll have to kill ya'! Well, check it out. First we'll look at the exterior, we'll start at the front, the nice little chrome brush on the front. Ta-da. With the fog lamps, these come off right here for at night if you get in a fog or whatever. Can't find your way! Then we move to the chrome wheels... Gotta' get a shot of that.

JOHN: Beautiful.

JUSTIN: That's probably my most favorite part of the car. I'm in the process of getting some chrome bars long the side, you know some side bars or sumpin'.

JOHN: Did you shop around for it or did you know this was the car you wanted?

JUSTIN: Well, you know, I was 14 when I saw it in, what was it? Motor Trend? Yeah, Motor Trend (magazine). I was looking at it and it was like the new Mercedes Benz...

JOHN: I see you have the tinted windows in the back, you don't need them in front?

JUSTIN: Not yet.

JOHN: So are you getting spotted on the road?

JUSTIN: Yeah, you were just talking about how I don't have the windows tinted in the front I'm thinking about getting someone to do that for me 'cuz I was driving the other day and these kids were like (points) and I was like oh! Took off driving down the road. everything.

JOHN: Cuz Madonna's are tinted, you know. She has a Mercedes too. Not a big one like this.

JUSTIN: Oh yeah, well I bet she doesn't have that -- go ahead and push that.

JOHN: This? (opens can holder)

JUSTIN: Yeah babay!

JOHN: Awesome. Awesome. Only for sodas of course -- he's only 17.

JUSTIN: Yeah, we don't drink and drive.

JOHN: Oh yeah, we don't do that either. So, there's a lot of treatment of you as a star. Have you noticed that or does it bother you?

JUSTIN: To me anybody who's there at the show or anybody who buys the record or anybody who supports any of us... all the guys have individual fans. And there's fans who just like us all. And I don't really focus my attention too much on that. To me anyone who's a fan of any of us or of 'N Sync is just a fan of 'N Sync. I'm having the time of my life doing what I'm doing, you know? We're all having the times of our lives. And the thing is, it's not about being a superstar, it's about music. There's people out there who dream of being actors and actresses, and there's people out there who dream about being astronauts. And the thing that's special about what I do to me is that I love to do it . I love music, and I love performing, I love everything about it. At such an early age -- I'm 17 years old, almost 18 -- and I've found something in my life that I really enjoy doing, that I have a love for. So it's just really really great doing something that you really enjoy in your heart.
