Dog Boarding
Milton Manor offers 3 different styles of boarding for
dogs.
Luxury Suites, Indoor/Outdoor Suites, Standard
Boarding

General Boarding Information & Requirements Basic
boarding is the daily care of your pet and their suite. All pets are
housed in cages, runs, or suites and are allowed to exercise in runs a
minimum of twice daily, or a yard, depending on the style of boarding
you are choosing for your pet. Each day your pets sleeping quarters are
cleaned and any bedding will be tidied up and cleaned if needed. "Room
Service" provides your pet with your chosen meal along with T.L.C. and
any medication that may be needed. All of our facilities indoors are
air-conditioned and heated to provide constant comfort for your pet all
year round.
We do not accept diabetic dogs or
cats as they don't do well with boarding. If you have a diabetic pet and
are in a need of boarding, please call the Ballston Spa Veterinary
Hospital. Oral medications
that can be given with your pets meal are given at no extra charge.
However, if your pet needs to be "pilled", needs ear medication, eye
medication or topical medication, there will be a nominal fee of $2.00
per administration. All dogs are fed Eukanuba Low Residue. If you would
like to bring your own food, please supply an ample amount for their
stay. Do not bring a 30# bag of food for a 2 day stay. It is
appreciated when you can pre-portion each meal in separate baggies.

Vaccinations Required for Boarding
Dogs must be current on the following vaccinations prior to admittance
into the resort: Distemper (DHLPP), Rabies, and Kennel Cough
(Bordetella). All pets must be vaccinated for Distemper and Rabies
PRIOR TO ARRIVAL into our facility as they require a veterinarians
administration. If for any reason your pet needs to be vaccinated
for Kennel Cough, this can be done at the time of drop off.
However it is highly recommended that the vaccination be given at least
1 week prior to arrival for full effectiveness. The Kennel Cough
vaccination is required every 6 months.

What is Kennel Cough?
Kennel Cough is a highly contagious respiratory infection in
dogs similar to the human cold. This virus causes inflammation
in the lining of the upper airway. The symptoms include a dry
spastic cough, runny nose or eyes, and in some cases a slight
temperature. These symptoms can last from a few days to a few
weeks. Kennel Cough is passed around in grooming shops, kennels,
vet offices, etc., basically anywhere dogs come into contact
with each other.
This virus has to be brought into the Manor by someone's dog,
and the virus is air borne. Thus it is very easily spread. This
virus takes five to ten days to incubate, so sometimes the pet
has gone home before the symptoms show up.
By insisting that every dog have the Bordetella vaccination, we
are doing what we can to help keep the virus away from the
facility. However, the vaccination is only 70% effective as
there are many strains of "Kennel Cough" and we regret that we
cannot 100% guarantee that your pet will not contract "Kennel
Cough". We clean daily with products designed to eliminate this
virus.
We highly recommend that this vaccination be given to your pet
before he or she arrives at the Manor as it takes approximately
3 days to take full effect. This is especially important for
puppies and pets that have never had the vaccination.

Indoor/Outdoor Suites (10 available)
Pets boarding in the indoor/outdoor rooms have access to their

is approximately 5'x5' on the inside and the outside areas. The
inside of the room contains a Korunda bed, PVC piping with
fabric in the center. Both the indoor and outdoor areas are
concrete. All pets in these runs are allowed outside into an
enclosed yard twice daily for approximately 15 minutes at a
time. They are let out individually by run. Dogs are not allowed
to play together at this time. This area is air conditioned in
the summer and heated through forced air heat in the winter (i.e.
floors are NOT warm). The floors are concrete. All pets have their belongings at all
times.

Standard Boarding
All pets are boarded indoors at night in cages
(approximately 3'x3'x2') or runs (8'x3' and 4'x3') depending on
the size of the pet and how many pets we have boarding at that
time. The cages are constructed of metal on the back and 2 sides
and a door on the front. Each cage has a grate on the bottom
which keeps the pet clean in the event he/she needs to go to the
bathroom in the middle of the night. The runs are constructed of
solid plastic 3 feet up from the floor and chain link on the
upper 3 feet. All of the runs have a plastic bed that can be
lowered for your pet. All of the regular dog boarders are
rotated outside into our outdoor runs during the day. The time
they spend outdoors depends on the weather on that day. During
the cold months, all pets are rotated into the outdoor runs to
go to the bathroom and then brought back indoors. During the
warmer months, all of the dogs can remain outdoors if the
weather is appropriate. Most of our outdoor runs are 14 feet
long by 4 feet wide and are constructed of chain link fencing
that extends all the way to the ground. This allows all of the
dogs to see one another, but to remain separate from each other.
Some of the outdoor facilities are covered by a roof, so in the
event of rain or snow, they can still remain outdoors for a
short period during the day. The main difference between the
regular boarding and the other 2 styles of boarding is that
these dogs rely on the staff to bring them indoors and outdoors.
They do NOT have free access to go in or out when they want to.
This area is air conditioned in the summer and heated through
forced air heat in the winter (i.e. floors are NOT warm).
The floors are concrete. Belongings may be brought with your pet for their stay, however
we ask that anything that is brought be machine washable, i.e.
not king size quilts or extra large dog beds. These belongings
stay indoors at all times. When the pets go outside they do not
have any of their bedding or toys.
In the event that your pet is
extremely nervous, shy, doesn't want to be touched, nippy, etc,
the staff may use their discretion and move your pet to one of
our Indoor/Outdoor Guillotine runs. In this case, the
charge for their stay will be the same as the Indoor/Outdoor
Suites.

Holiday Deposit Policy
For REGULAR BOARDING -- Milton Manor requires deposits
for all peak periods for new clients. We may also
require that certain clients pay a deposit based on
previous boarding occurrences. We have found with
previous holidays, especially Thanksgiving, that many
clients have waited for a spot to board their pets, but
either some of our clients cancel at the last minute or
we have clients not show up at all. This makes it very
difficult to fill these vacancies. Thus our policy will
be:
A deposit of $50 for each reserved spot will be required
for each peak period. Until the deposit is received, the
reservation is not confirmed and may be given to someone
else. If the reservation is canceled by the cancellation
date, one week prior to your scheduled drop off date,
your deposit will not be used. If the reservation is
cancelled after the cancellation date, the deposit is
lost completely. All deposits will be charged on the
cancellation date.
Deposit may be made by giving us a credit card over the
phone or by coming into Milton Manor and paying the
deposit in person.
For IN/OUT & LUXURY SUITES -- Milton Manor requires
deposits year round. During the school season, when the
kids are in school, there will be a $50 deposit required
for all spots reserved. Same rules apply as regular
boarding policy. During peak seasons and summer vacation
a $75 deposit will be required for all spots reserved.
QUESTION: HOW AM I CHARGED FOR MY PETS STAY? WHAT IS A DAY?
