Donal J. "Pat" O'Buckley, K2PJB

Pat O'Buckley, K2PJB, age 76, of Horseheads, NY passed away Monday, December 17, 2001 unexpectedly at home.

Pat was born April 30, 1925 in Cortland, NY, the son of the late Donal A & Mary Moltz O'Buckley.

He was a decorated veteran of WWII serving his country with the US Army 17th and 82nd Airborne Division and having fought in the Battle of The Bulge. He received three Purple Hearts for wounds received in the line of duty and the Bronze Star.

Pat received his Master's Degree in Music Education from Ithaca College. He married his wife, Evelyn E. Bennett O'Buckley on April 1949 and they celebrated their 52nd Wedding Anniversary on April 30, 2001.

Pat was a retired instrumental music teacher and supervisor of music with the Johnson City School System for over thirty years and taught at SUNY Binghamton. He played string bass with the Elmira, Corning and BC Pops Symphonies. Additionally, he was Principal of The Binghamton Symphony for 30 years until his retirement in 1987 and was a member of the group "A Touch of Class".

Pat was a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads, Horseheads American Legion Post #442 and an active member of NYS Retired Teachers Association as well as a licensed HAM Radio Operator since 1955 with the call letters K2PJB.

Mr. O'Buckley was an active member and Past President of both the Johnson City Rotary Club and the Horseheads Rotary Club achieving 36 years of perfect attendance. He was given the Paul Harris Fellowship Award for his contributions and dedication to Rotary and his community.

Pat and his wife Evelyn opened their home and hosted dozens of foreign exchange students through the years. He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn, daughters Mary and Donna, sons Mark and Craig, and adopted foreign exchange student Junko Fukuda Savage.
