Saudi Sand in my Shoes !

As different of a place that it is. That sand kind of has a way of sliping into your shoes. As time passes I still find that passing by an Arab resturant floods my mind with images of Saudi.

My Saudi Princess

Well, not a Saudi Princess, but my princess. We are the best of friends. We party and listen to the old songs.

Yupper...it works !

This is the traditional Hubbly Bubbley. I smoked them almost nightly in the old souk, while drinking honey flavored tea, so hot and sweet. The smoking material is a Kif based product with tobacco added. I would sit in front of the cafe and watch the stars while the old men played backgammon or dominos. When I purchased my Hooka I went into the souk. I passed by the stores selling them and spoke with a young man. His father owned the store. As I left the old man motioned to me to sit with him on the ground. We sat together and smoked the Hooka that night for hours...He speaking no English and I speaking very little Arabic. In spite of the difficulties we communicated well with grunts and a lot of gestures and smiles.

The Date Palm

It is said that there are over 500 different types of dates. Notice how they grow, close to the ground. The best variety is soft inside, creamy like a pudding.
