Name: William "Mandrake" Reinhardt

Date of Birth: 3rd March 2236

Place of Birth: Proxima III, Proxima Centauri System

Age: 27

Race: Human

Position: Flight Alpha Leader

History: Born on the 3rd of March 2236 into a wealthy family with two brothers and one sister, William Reinhardt is proud of the fact that his family were amongst the first to live outside Earth's solar system, when on the 10th of June 2165 the Proxima III Colony was founded as the first colony outside Earth's solar system.

Reinhardt always wanted to be a fighter pilot. His family had always served in the air force since a distant ancestor first served in the German Lufftwaffe during the Earth World War II of the 20th century.

More recently his grandfather, after whom he is named, was a fighter pilot who flew one of the first "Aries" Starfuries and defeated a raid by the Ch'lonas on the Human colony on Ross 128 IV in 2170. In 2232 His father Hans Reinhardt fought in the battle of Salus during the Dilgar war.

In 2247 when the Proxima III Midrange military bases were conquered by the Mimbari, Hans Reinhardt was killed fighting to cover the evacuation of the bases "dependants". The survivors lived on board the EAS freighter the "Mandrake" until the end of the war.

In 2253 William Reinhardt joined Earthforce, he graduated from the Proxima III Midrange Academy in 2256. Reinhardt served with a Starfury squadron which was later reassigned as Zeta Squadron to Babylon 5 in June 2258.

Following a number of strange events on the station including the mysterious death of his friend and wingmate Lt. Keffer, on the 26th December 2259, Reinhardt left Babylon 5 to be reassigned to a Proxima III Earth Force Command fighter squadron.

On the 13th April 2260, following Clarke's orders for the bombing of Mars Colony, Proxima III declared independence. Torn between loyalty to Earth Force and his family and friends, Reinhardt, now a junior Lieutenant and commander of a squadron, tried to stay loyal to Earth Force on Proxima III, until they began to hit civilian targets.

In late May 2261 he and his squadron defected to the defence of Proxima III. He fought a long and protracted but losing battle against Clarke's forces but it was not until the 2nd September 2261 with the arrival of Sheridan's forces that Proxima III was liberated.

Reinhardt and the remnants of his squadron chose to remain to defend Proxima III with Earth Force ships loyal to Sheridan. "My orders were to defend Proxima III, which I have done and will continue to do", was all he had to say.

On the 3rd of November 2261 Sheridan loyalists were pardoned by Earthgov, however Earth Force Command decided that since Reinhardt had not actually joined with Sheridan's forces and had, despite all the circumstances, followed their orders to defend Proxima III it was not necessary to pardon him because he had not betrayed Earthforce. For his actions Reinhardt was decorated and made a full Lieutenant.

He temporarily left Earth Force to help in the rebuilding of Proxima III. He later rejoined in November 2262 and was reinstated in command of his squadron. Under the new government his squadron was reassigned in 2263 to the EAS Hypocrites to serve as it's Alpha Squadron.

Personality: Reinhardt is a friendly, "down to Earth"person who has a good sense of humour and thinks that Earth Force exists to serve the Earth Alliance people and not a single leader. He is a loyal and honest man who wants to protect people.

He was distraught at the death of his father and does not trust Sheridan's Alliance and the Minbari. However he believes that it is the best thing for his planet. He proved himself to be an excellent leader when he held off Clarke's forces at Proxima III for four months.

He is a brilliant fighter pilot who has engaged and destroyed countless enemies, and he combines skill, bravado, daring and his strong personality to bring out the best in those who serve under him.

Reinhardt has already taken a dislike to Chief Tactical Officer Lt. Jonathan Reeves, whom he believes betrayed the people of the Earth Alliance by supporting Clarke's government, and his attacks on the citizens of Proxima III.

His callsign is "Mandrake" after the name of the EAS freighter that he lived on during the last months of the Earth-Mimbari War.

Languages = English (Earth Standard) German (Proxima III variant) English (Earth Standard), this is the standard language of the Alliance, though citizens of Proxima III being German in origin also have a secondary language: German (Proxima III variant), Reinhardt comes from a family that were settlers from Germany, Europe, Earth.
