What I Like

• Being With Family & Friends - I really believe that family and good friends are the most important relationships one can have! My family is priority! My son just started college last year - yikes! I'm suddenly starting to feel old.
  
  
• Kittens, Cats, Puppies, Dogs! - I love cats, kittens,dogs and puppies! I'm very allergic to dogs (much to my son's disappointment). I am also allergic to cats, but less so. We have one cat, TJ, who is a male, shorthair, 9 yrs old, black and white. He looks like he's a tuxedo. He's a wonderful member of the family! He's very attached to me, and follows me all around the apartment! He also loves to sleep between my feet and my husband's for about half the night.
  
  
• Going To The Theatre & Movies - I love the theatre, drama and comedy in particular. Give me a play, almost any play will do! I love Shakespeare as well! Thank goodness I live in New York City where I have access to these wonderful theatres! I really like the fact that my son is starting to enjoy the theatre as well. I get Broadway and off-Broadway show tickets for him and a friend, and they just go downtown and enjoy their afternoons. There is no other place for a teenager to get this kind of culture than in NYC!
  
  
• Reading - Especially non-fiction and no, I can't give you ONE specific favorite, for I have many! It's been getting harder for me to read books lately since I am busy updating several websites and working. I've put my own pleasures to the side--but only for now.
  
  
• Writing Poetry & Short Stories - I have written many poems, and a few short stories. I have been published in England and in the United States. I am busy now getting an anthology of Latin American erotica together. See the website on this here.
  
  
• Arts & Crafts - I'm pretty good at crafts, especially making party favors! I did all of my own for my wedding including my wedding cake topper. I have done party favors and event souvenirs for family members and friends. I love to create things with my hands. I have done knitting, candlemaking, quilting, basketweaving, jewelry, and a little sculpting. I would love to have more talent in drawing, painting, and sculpture (including glass). I would also like to get into wood, making furniture pieces, but I'm not sure how realistic this will be for me since I don't have much space, and the equipment needed is both expensive and space-consuming.
  
  
• Music - I enjoy all sorts of music from classical to rock, country to jazz, latin beat to the reggae beat. I guess the only music I don't like is gangsta rap and other "hate music" such as songs from groups like Marilyn Manson. Do I play any instruments? Well, no. I used to play the violin as a child and the piano a bit as a teen, but I'm not good now. I fell out of practice. I always wanted to learn how to play the guitar, though. I bought a guitar, but never got around to getting some lessons, so I passed it on to my niece, who I think isn't playing it much either.
  
  
• Baseball - Of course, being from New York, I love our NY Yankees , and the NY Mets aren't too far behind. I have always loved baseball. It's been a sport my family has always enjoyed. Is that a Cuban thing? I remember my father taking my brothers and me to Yankee Stadium and the Mets' Shea Stadium to watch the games from the bleechers. He couldn't afford anything other than bleecher tickets. We were so poor! Now I take my son and luckily, he gets better seats. We always have a bunch of tickets for the games. My son has taken on a love for baseball. If he's not at a Yankees game, he's watching it on TV. He is so good at the stats of all the teams, he should be on TV as a sportscaster at his young age of 18! Okay, now I have to say it: "LET'S GO YANKEES!"
  
  
• KIDS! - I love kids and anyone who knows me will say so! I love hanging out, playing, talking, and partying with them! I love taking kids to places they've never seen, and sometimes include my nephew and niece on our vacations. Since I have a fear of flying, most of the places we've been to have been places we can drive to--even if it's long distances. We have been to more than half of the states in the union on these driving adventures. Of course, I took a plane to California and states on the opposite end. BTW, the kids to the left are (left to right) my nephew, niece and my son in their much younger days. I love showing them a good time. I probably love amusement parks so much because I love kids so much! I also enjoy working with the adolescent population. My job as a counselor has always been to work with adolescents, and I've been doing so for the past 23 years, trying to keep them healthy and helping them make better life choices.
  
  
• New York City! - I grew up in New York City and I love it! I have traveled to many different cities, but I haven't found anything like NYC! Sadly, the tragic events of September 11 have not only had a negative impact on my family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers -- it has had a negative impact on all New Yorkers and our economy. An incredible recovery from that tragedy has been slow for some and swift for others. We thank those of you who prayed and gave whatever you could to support the families affected.

  New York City is special: We have "Museum Mile" where one can see one museum after another for a good mile; we can spend summer evenings attending FREE shows (Shakespeare, ballet, opera, poetry readings, concerts etc) at our lovely and huge green lawn known as Central Park; on one afternoon each year, all of Broadway performs for FREE on the actual streets of Broadway for all to see. We even get to hear, watch and sometimes dance to FREE world music and dances being performed in the plaza of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. There is a lot to see in New York City!
