Dear Brother and Sister Hibernians, Their Family Members and Friends:

The Queens County A.O.H. Sunshine Club will celebrate our 21th Annual Columbus Day weekend Friday, October 1st through Monday, October 3rd at the Fern Cliff House, East Durham, New York. Arrive on Friday after 2:00 p.m. - leave Monday after lunch. Dinner on Friday is served from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., three meals Saturday and Sunday with breakfast and lunch on Monday. That's a total of 9 full meals.

The weekend package will include the very enjoyable Saturday 4:00 p.m. cocktail hour. We will have live music for the first hour, followed by an additional hour. The second hour will be a cash bar and local talent. Sunday at 3:30 p.m. there will be an "Irish Coffee Party". I am still working on the children's activities, for which I need suggestions with volunteers. Music by Tommy Goodwin & Sharon at the O'Connell Lounge each night from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Room assignments will be the same as in previous years. Our long time guests will get first preference of rooms. We have found this to be the fair way to handle accommodations.

We are giving you early notification so you can plan your vacation days to correspond with the weekend. Because of the popularity and demand for this weekend package, we mast have a $50.00 deposit per adult to secure reservations. If we do not hear from you by July 9fh, we will assume that you do not plan to join us this year. We will then give people who are on the waiting list the accommodation. You can always send me pre-dated checks, guaranteed not to be deposited until July 9th. If I may suggest, do it now and get if off your mind. If you have to cancel your reservation, call me anytime and I will return your deposit. You will be getting another letter in August with room assignments and request for balance due by September 5th.

We are sorry to inform you that single rooms have been eliminated due to the complete renovation of the Mcintyre building. We suggest that you make arrangements with a friend and book a double room. If a single adult books a double room, he or she must pay for a double accommodation. All rooms have heat/air & cable TV considered to be Motel rooms. For the 3rd or 4th adult in a room, deduct $10.00 each for all adults in the room.

Rates for Packages are as follows;

Motel Rooms $ 185.00 per person

Children's Rates;

Under 3 years --- Free
Ages 3 to 6 --- $50.00
Ages 7 to 10 --- $65.00
Ages 11 to 14 --- $85.00

The rate for an additional night's stay (Thursday night and/or Monday night) is $20.00 per room (not per person) for each night and includes light continental breakfast Friday morning and/or Tuesday morning. You may pay for the additional time along with the regular package, or you may pay this directly to Mr. or Mrs. Dillon upon arrival at the Fern Cliff House.
