Where It Hits The Fan

The Lost Hope Sector

Towards the base of Hive Primus, just above the Great Sump Sea, lies an area known as Lost Hope. This withered industrial complex is home of to representatives of all six major Houses of the Hive, plus numerous bands of Ratskins, Outlaws, Redemptionists, and Mutants. Rumor has it that a band of dreaded Spyrer Hunters has also moved into the sector, but as of yet, reports are unconfirmed.

Below is an overhead map of Lost Hope, divided up by territory and containing a listing of who controls what territory. Territory listings are formatted as follows: *1. Settlement (Es)

The asterisk signifies that this territory is the controlling gang's home base. The number corresponds with numbers on the map itself, showing exactly where this territory is. Next is the type of territory it is, in this case, it is a Settlement. The figure in parenthesis is an indication of the controlling gang (the code is as follows: C=Cawdor, Es=Escher, Dq=Delaque, G=Goliath, O=Orlock, V=VanSaar, RR=Ratskins, Sp=Spyrers, Sc=Scavvies, RD=Redemptionists).

Territories of Note

*1: Ripperjack Pass is the name of the settlement that the "Bitch Queens" call home. Surprisingly, the name comes not from the abundance of Ripperjacks currently in the area, but rather the lack of them. When this was little more than two or three holesteads, Punchin' Judy led her gang here and exterminated over 342 ripperjacks. The holesteaders were so grateful that they asked the ladies to stay, and stay they did. Since the extermination, this has become a bustling trade center, being directly on the border of Lost Hope.

5: This settlement, also controlled by the Escher, is known only as Bad Rock. Not many settlers actively live here at once, preferring to use it as a fallback retreat from hivequakes and swarms. Wedged tightly between Orlocks and Delaque, this territory is prime real-estate for either gang. It would allow the Delaque to drive a wedge into the Orlock line of influence, and it would allow the Orlocks the opportunity to form a unified line between most of their territories. Needless to say, the "Bitch Queens" tend to see quite a bit of action in this location.

6: The "Army of Fear" are a strange bunch. One minute they are preaching sanctity and the virtues of genetic purity, and the next they are hunkering down for a bottle of Wildsnake and a rat-burger. Truth be told, they are as human as anyone else (just don't let them hear you say that); this is probably why they decided to take an interest in CrazeeJoe's. This notorious drinking hole, situated in a terribly decrepit and dangerous section of Lost Hope, is home to some of the most vicious gamblers, bounty-hunters and scum ever collected. Unless you're especially tough, incredibly stupid, or just plain suicidal, the best advice is to steer clear of this joint.

*8: This cramped, rad-burnt settlement is known as Rat City. Its former inhabitants, a veritable army of giant Necromundan rats, was cleaned out by the Cawdor that now base their operations there. The settlers here are highly sympathetic to the Cawdor faith, and have even taken up arms against rival gangs on several occasions.

*12: A simple spore cave on the outside, this territory holds a dark secret…Delaque. This cave has been selected by the Delaque gang "Hive Vipers" to be their hide-out. As well as yielding valuable spores, this cave provides ample protection, is nestled in among some of the more gritty territories, and , it is rumored, is an entryway into a deserted Habdome below this level of hive. Whether this is true or not, the Delaque seem intent on keeping this land. One can only guess at their motivation.

17: Blackwater Creek runs through this holestead from Blackwater Pond up into VanSaar territory, where it ends in Green Lake. The Goliaths controlling this territory are fiercely protective of the holesteaders that live here, especially since the bridge on the outskirts of the holestead makes a very popular target for rival gangs.

*18: Diamondback being as popular a card game as it is, there are always people willing to play with, and lose, vast amounts of credits in the surrounding settlements. For this reason, establishments like The Filthy Lizard are becoming more and more common. Owned and operated exclusively by the Goliath gang the "Enforcers", The Lizard is often packed with gamblers and thieves alike, all trying to make a buck. Anyone can play at The Lizard, but it is rumored that to win, it helps to be a member of House Goliath. Recently, firefights and minor skirmishes have broken out between the Goliath of The Lizard and the Cawdor running CrazeeJoe's; each one accusing the other of stealing business. Because the Goliaths are so fond of both the establishment and the gritty, violent nature of the surrounding area, they have chosen to make this their home.

19: This is Greeley's Snake Pit. Run by the Orlock "Barons of the Underhive", this is probably one of the best known and most prosperous drinking holes in the entire sector. The "Barons" make sure no one causes trouble, and Greeley, being the old nosy coot that he is, is probably the best source of information this side of Delaque territory (and ole Greeley won't shoot ya in the back after ye pays 'im for info neither!). This combination leads to an atmosphere that most green hivers and travelers feel comfortable with. At any given time, ten to fifteen settlers from different sectors of the hive can be found here trading information and listening for rumors. Plus, the "Barons" find this establishment very useful for their other endeavor - narcotics. Any manner of drug, from Spook to Slaught, can be bought at Greeley's…of course it doesn't come without its price. Drugs bought here are 15% more expensive than anywhere else in the sector.

*21: Doom Town is the name of this Orlock run settlement. The seat of the "Barons of the Underhive", this territory is well maintained and the inhabitants are very loyal to their protectors. Surrounded by territories controlled by all the other gangs in Lost Hope with the exception of the Escher driven "Bitch Queens", this streets of this settlement are often turned into a bloody warzone. Yet the Orlocks have managed to maintain control of this settlement. The fact that it is surrounded by so many enemies is most likely the reason the House of Iron chooses to reside here. This keeps a constant presence in the area should trouble arise.

*22: The "Spades", Lost Hope's VanSaar presence, makes their home here, at Raddix Chemical Refinery and Storage. Long abandoned, this building contains a huge deposit of chemicals as well as ancient and non-functioning refining equipment. The fortified walls and acidic chemical pool made this territory especially appealing to the gun-running VanSaar gang, since the walls keep out most intruders and the pool is perfect for disposing of those that happen to get in.

*24: This rad-zone is suspected to be the home of the "Stalkers of the Waste", the only known band of Ratskins in Lost Hope. Due to their native resilience to the rigors of the hive, this area is perfect for them, as no one else can stand to be in its vicinity for long. With the protection of the "hive spirits" and the near toxic levels of radiation, the inhabitants of this territory enjoy relative solitude; plus no gang leader in their right mind would actively attempt to seize a rad-zone as a territory.

*25: On a secluded island of rock and melted slag, just off the coast of the Great Sump Sea, resides the most feared troupe in Lost Hope - "Apokalyps-4". These Spyrer Hunters are seldom seen on the mainland, but when they attack, whole settlements have been known to disappear. No one has ever made it out to Apokalyps Isle and returned, and these days, not many even try.

*26: This rad-zone, The DZ, or DeathZone, as it is affectionately called, is home to a sinister bunch of flesh eating mutants who call themselves "The Black Maggots". This Scavvy mob resides in one of the most blasted, toxic sections of Lost Hope. Luckily, they rarely leave the "comfort" of the DZ; still, every now and then, a ganger will disappear near the Zone or an outbreak of zombie plague will tear through the surrounding settlements.

*27: Here we have a workshop that, for all intents and purposes, looks relatively normal. But, step inside and you may well be witness to the sinister ceremonies of the Redemption Crusade. This arm of the Crusade is known only as "The Disciples", and it is from this location that they direct the movements of all other Redemptionists in Lost Hope. And although they will deny it, it is wholly possible that even the mighty "Army of Fear" is subject to the machinations of the Redemption's unholy "Disciples".
