Topic: Rams run defense
Being a Rams fan I suppose I should start this blog with my thoughts on the Rams run defense or I should say lack there of.
Why is it the Rams "D" can't stop the run? During the off season the Rams signed some big named FA's to help shore up run defense and so far not much has changed from previous years.
Week 1....Denver's T. Bell 103 yards rushing/M. Bell 58 yards rushing.
Week 2....San Fran's F. Gore 127 yards rushing/longest 32 yards and 1 TD
Week 3....Arizona's E. James 93 yards. Rams were lucky to have come away with the win in Zonia. Thanks for the gift, Kurt.
Week 4....Detroit's K. Jones 93 yards. I made the trip to STL for that game and let me just say this....WHEW what a game :-)
Week 5....Green Bay's V. Morency (no A. Green in this game) rushed for 73 yards, but averaged 5.6 yds per carry. Again the Rams receive a gift from the QB in the form of a fumble near the end of the game. Thank you Brett.
Week 6...Seattle's M. Morris rushed for 74 yards with his longers being 21 yards. Even Hasselbeck got in on the fun of running up yards on the Rams. He ran for 22 yards in two tries (longest 17 yards. Now I wouldn't say the Rams had poor run defense against Seattle, but I don't think you should let a QB run for 22 yards in two tries.
Week 7...Chargers L. Tomlinson ran circles around the Rams "D" with 182 yards rushing/51 being his longest and 2 TD's
Week 8....K.C. Chiefs L. Johnson did pretty much the same as Tomlinson did the week before. Johnson rushed for 172 yards with his longest being 45 yards and 1 TD.
All I know is the defense has me shaking my head and wondering.....WHY CAN'T THE RAMS STOP THE RUN!!!!
