We are a community service organization designed to provide male adult friendship and companionship to boys within our community that range between the ages of six and eighteen that are essentially from one-parent families.
The boys called Little Brothers are matched on a one-to-one basis with an adult male volunteer called a Big Brother. The “Big” must be at least 18 years of age and willing to give three hours per week for at least one year to his “Little Brother”. The relationship between the “Little” and the “Big” enable a mutually beneficial friendship to develop.
The one-on-one matching program involves an orientation process, personal interviews, in home visits and supervisory follow-ups once matched. Training programs, workshops, recreation programs and special activities supports this program.
I am extremely excited to be a part of this organization. There is such potential for growth and I can see only good things to come. The only stumbling block that I face is the limited number of “Bigs” that are available to be matched to our every growing waiting list of “Littles”.
I do to make an appeal to men in our community that could spare three hours a week to provide the time and friendship that so many young boys need and in return feel that they are making a difference in a young boys life.
The quantities that we look for in a Big Brother are commitment, consistency, and sincerity from any walk of life. If you feel that this could be you, please contact our office.
