HAREDIM-IN-RECOVERY (for the ex-Orthodox)



A Virtual Support Group for Those Living or Seeking to Live a Frei Lifestyle.

This is perhaps only extant support group -- virtual or otherwise -- for folks who feel they have suffered under the repressiveness of Orthodox Judaism, particularly of the Haredi and Lubavitch flavors, and are finally becoming empowered to think for themselves.

This discussion forum operates under the assumption that religion is, on the whole, a positive endeavor, but that some people -- because of their upbringing or the overzealous activities of ultra-Orthodox missionaries -- are induced for a time, or their entire lives, to live a religious lifestyle they do not truly want.

Whether you've been taken in by the Chabad House/Aish HaTorah/Etc rap, or you've suffered in the intellectually repressive atmosphere of a Tomchei Tmimim, Mir, Bais Rivka/Yaakov, this is the place for you to commune with others like you.

Comment and personal experience on the difficulties you've experienced in becoming (or trying to become) frei are welcome. What is NOT welcome is material advocating any particular flavor of observant Judaism or religious practice. Off-topic posts will be deleted, and repeated abuse of the forum will prompt an official complaint to the abuser's ISP.

If you aren't frei or seeking to become frei, this is not the forum for you!
