"THE FORGOTTEN SAINT" JUDE THADDEUS This is a title that is sometimes given to our Saint. It is hard to conceive how any Saint of God could really be forgotten by men, but this fact may be explained by a certain confusion of names. No doubt it was by reason of the shameful treason of another Jude, Judas Iscariot, that the name of a glorious Apostle and martyr has suffered forgetfulness. Today however, more than ever before, the merit of Jude Thaddeus is being revived in people's minds and hearts. He is known as the "Patron in Cases Despaired of." "Thaddeus" means sweetness and gentleness of character. He died a martyr of God. His last mortal remains now lie in the great basilica of St. Peter in Rome. Pope Paul III, in a brief dated September 22nd, 1543 granted a plenary indulgence to all who would visit his tomb on the day commemorating his death. October 28th, the day of his feast. NOVENA TO SAINT JUDE PATRON IN CASES DESPAIRED OF Holy Saint Jude, Apostle and Martyr, great in virtue and rich in miracles, near kinsman of Jesus Christ, faithful intercessor of all who invoke your special patronage in time of need, to you I have recourse from the depth of my heart and humbly beg to whom God has given such great power to come to my assistance. Please help me in my present and urgent petition. (Here, describe the nature of your own personal need) In return, I promise to make your name known and cause you to be invoked. After reciting the prayer above, say three Our Fathers, three Hail Marys and three Glorias to complete the novena. This novena should be said for nine consecutive days. "Publication must be promised" It has not been known to fail.
He in return is proving himself more than an ordinary advocate taking special delight in coming to the aid of persons in desperate need.
No petition seems too great for him.
Saint Jude, pray for us and all who invoke your aid.
Amen
