My pen name is Richard Anthony and I am a Screenwriter, Playwright, Children's book author and CopyWriter. Since 1990, I have created and written over nine screenplays, developed and written seven, original television programs, a two act play, hundreds of radio and television commercials, radio comedy bits and a series of children's books. I have been an actor, writer, producer and director of numerous theatrical productions as well as radio and television video commercials. I have just completed my ninth screenplay entitled "MIA - MURDERED IN ACTION". It's a story about how greed, corruption, death and destruction got China, Vietnam, Laos and the United States in bed together to take on one man's quest for the truth. Gene Bell, your not-so-typical newspaper reporter, is sent to cover the revitalization of Vietnam into the world's community. Bell, who once fought against the Viet Cong is reluctant to go, but his boss forces him. Bell meets an old Vietnamese friend, who now works for the Vietnamese government as a propoganda agent, he let's Bell know about a coverup done in the sixties to disguise the murder of a troop of GI's and Vietnamese by the use of chemical ordinance. Big business and the military, in covert action, brought about the deaths of these GI's during a secret operation called Igloo White. The chemical manufacturers then paid off corrupt officals in the Chinese, Vietnamese and Laotian governments. All the soldiers were presumed Missing In Action, until now. Bell is launched on a crusade to right the wrong but he faces assassins, treachery, corrupt government officals, lies and deceit at every turn. Bell, whose hidden background in counter intelligents and old "contacts", may be able to help him bring the truth to light. But, who can he trust? Who's had their pockets lined by dirty money? Who, in their right mind, can turn down a million dollar bounty that's on Bell's head?
Next, "THE KEY", is a story about Dr. Sams, a professor of archeology, who takes his summer school class on a dig to the Pueblo's area of New Mexico. They uncover a lost cave and unearth wall paintings that have no earthly meaning. As the class is busy detailing the walls, Sams excavates further in the cave and finds an object of technological wonder. What is it? What can it do? Will it help or destroy the world?
"WINDOWS" is a tale about a think tank linguist who has happened upon an interesting theory about opening up a window to the past. With the help of scientists from around the world and a rich industrialist, Professor James is about to open up that window. The first time trial is the night Marilyn Monroe died. As the window to the past opens, the sight that awaits them changes all the theories they had made from researching Monroe's last night. Unknown to the scientists, the rich industrialist, is only a puppet. The man pulling his strings has ties to international terrorism and crime. He wants the "WINDOW" because with it he can blackmail the world. But, unknown to all of them, is a black bag operation sponsored by a fragmented covert op's branch of the military. They want the "WINDOW" because with it, there are no more secrets. What will happen to the "WINDOW"? Or the scientists working on the project? Will the world ever know of it's existence?
"BAFFIN BAY" is a screenplay dealing with the real life story of the Sir John Franklin expedition to find the Northwest Passage in the 1860's. They were the most well equipt expedition to leave England's shores. Sir John Franklin, an expert in arctic exploration, along with two ships and a crew of over a hundred and fifty men disappeared without a trace. Only recently have three graves been found. What happened to the other men? It's an historic/adventure/mystery that baffles us to this day.
"THE PASS" is a look at what really happened to the DONNER PARTY. This story has never been told correctly. The men and women of the Donner Party have been villianized for too long. Now their story is told. It's a story of human courage, dignity and endurance. This is an epic tale of how, we as humans, can look death in the face and triumph.
"GRIDLOCK", is a comedy dealing with traffic in L.A. . It's an ensembled cast which includes; four women car pooling to work, a driver's training class of misfits, a CHP cruiser, who's occupants include; a crusty female sarge and her new recruit, who actually is the off-centered twin of the real recruit who has been mugged in Mexico and is working his way to the US with an aging Mexican man in an old, beat up truck, an elderly group of ex cops/support/lawyers, in a make shift RV carrying the latest in police equipment with an arsonal packed to the gills, who are in pursuit of the Freeway Bandit, finally a lone, crazy scientist who has invented "THE AVENGER" an offensive, automotive weapon. He's in pursuit of taking care of all the annoying drivers that are on the freeway system in L.A..
"MOUSETRAPPED", is a romantic comedy about Annie, a successful businesswoman, who has it all. All except romance in her life. Disappointment after disappointment faces Annie as she goes out on dates only to come home alone, thankfully. Annie takes a vacation and ends up on a mysterious street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, where she walks into an occult store. Greeting her is an ole, crone, who seems to know Annie. They talk and Annie decides to buy a special pack of cards from the old lady. But, before she does the crone pricks her finger and spreads a drop of blood on the cards. They begin to glow. Annie buys them and heads back home to San Francisco. She takes them out at work and begins to play the game "FANTASM" with her friends. Soon, because a problem at work comes up, Annie meets a man who could change her life. But, he's too shy and besides that, she may have found a soul mate on the Internet. What will happen to Annie? Will she find true romance via the mouse or is it just a few feet away?
"A CHILD SHALL LEAD THEM" is an animated tale along the lines of Lord Of The Rings. It's a true animated tale not a "musical" set to animation. In the land of Nek-Ka-Ah a true evil has sprouted. He is the Dark Lord Mermac. With his allies, Truck the leader of the Trolls and the Zombie Master, he hopes to beat The Land and it's Guardian. The Animals, Gnomes, Fairies and a group of half human - half animal's called Islets are The Land's and The Guardian's only hope to keep The Land pure. This is script one of a trilogy.
Finally,"LA THE QUAKE", is an action/thriller about the last killer quake in L.A. . It's based on fact but has fictitious characters playing the parts of the real heroes and casualities of that natural disaster.
"LITTLE BOY BLUE" is a two act play dealing with nine New Yorkers being thrown together in an emergency shelter. What starts out as a practice drill turns into something more sinister. The play explores the many emotions and flaws that run rampant as humans are thrown into a situation where there may be no escape. As the men and women's characters interact, we begin to see their lives opening up. In peeking at their lives, we might be able to see a few reflections of our own. "LITTLE BOY BLUE" will keep you on the end of your seats. It's a roller coaster ride that will leave you at the end wanting more.
Here's a brief description of the seven television programs that I have written and created.
"CARING", a Drama/Comedy with an ensembled cast of women dealing with working at a Day Care facility in the Napa Valley area of California. These women deal daily with the children and the stories of child abuse, child endangerment, child abduction and child neglict. On the lighter side we see the mischief and mayhem that a group of children can cause.
"CLIPS" is a half hour Music Magazine show. It's a little bit of Siskel & Ebert meets Mystery Science Theater. I am in pre-production of "Clips" first pilot, as of the beginning of the new year and am planning on it being completed by February. Then onto the next step of finding sponsors. Next is, "SAL'S" which is a half hour sit-com that takes place at a Comedy Club called Sal's. Sal's is not only about the acts on stage but, about what goes on behind the scenes. With a cast full of backstage characters and mayhem that keeps every week's guest star comedians on their toes. SAL'S is a different type of comedy because most of the show will be improvisational.
"CLUB VID & WHERE ARE THEY NOW", are musical magazine shows.
"WELCOME TO ISLETVILLE" is a half hour Children's educational show. It features human cast members, costumed members, puppetry and animation. It's the only one of it's kind to combine all four forms of entertainment to convey an educational message. The Isletville characters are based on the "A CHILD SHALL LEAD THEM" animated film.
"ES FACIL APRENDER (LEARNING IS EASY)" is a half hour Children's educational program dealing with teaching Spanish speaking children english. The program consists of eight, three minute segments. These segments will be taught by prominent bi-linugal educators who will teach the lesson in Spanish and then follow it up with the english version.
"TEN MINUTE TALES"
Ten Minute Tales is a series of five children's books. In Book One, "Jamie's Adventure", we find a boy named Jamie lost in a wild and dangerous forest. He is befriended by a band of squirrels that lead him on a fantastic adventure that has him fighting off a band of renegade crows. The squirrels are lead by Robin, who helps Jamie find his way back home. In Book Two, "The Last Chance Candy Stand", we find a girl named Anne dreaming of a far off city. As she falls to sleep one night, her dreams become reality. She makes her way into town and is drawn towards an incredible store. Her guide through the store is a dragon, dressed in overalls, that takes her from one escapade to another. In Book Three, "A Friend In Deed", we find Andy the chipmunk making friends with other species than his own. Andy is caught in a terrible storm that has him in fear for his life. With the help of a friend's grandparent, Andy survives. In Book Four, "The Prince and His Dragon", Prince David dreams of a world without magic where children grow up depending upon the help of parents and loved ones, instead of magic. Finally in Book Five, "An Alligator's Tale", Zeak and his friends take off to a forbidden part of the swamp and personally find out why they have been told to stay away.
In my fifteen years as a Assistant Operation's manager, Sports Director and On-Air Personality for several radio stations in California, I have written, produced and voiced hundreds of radio station commercials and promos. I have also owned a Television/Video Productions/Advertising Agency in California where I sold, wrote, produced and directed numerous video productions.
