It is A Must, if you are planning of visiting the City.

One of the most admirable aspects of artist Christopher Janney's "REACH—New York" is its subtlety. Painted institutional green, it hovers quietly above the heads of MTA passengers on the N/R platforms at the 34th Street - Herald Square station. Once discovered, however, this "urban musical instrument" comes alive.

The piece, a series of electric eyes hooked up to 12 different sound banks, is activated when one of its invisible photo-cell beams is interrupted by a passing object, a raised hand, a newspaper, an umbrella. Break the ray, and you'll unleash a pleasingly loud series of rainforest-inspired sounds reminiscent of marimbas, crickets or birds; sometimes, unexpected space-age noises chime in, too.
