IRC, internet relay chat, is a program that is free to individuals (non businesses) and is very easy to learn. A user can create their own chat room, but I don't suggest this unless you know what you are doing, since others can take over your room. Not to worry though, there are WAYS of protecting yourself and seeking retribution. IRC is where I go to talk to my friends. There are many ways of talking, public chat rooms, DCC (direct client to client) chats, messages, and more private chat rooms, where you can limit those that come in. Of course, you can always kick the peopleout that you don't like, so this is not a huge problem. There are many commands to IRC, I'm still learning them and I've been chatting there for almost a year. So, if you are very confused when you sign on, just type /join #newbies. Chances are that there will be someone there that would be glad to help you. I can be found under the nick "Sassyrose" or "BiTcHiN" on any Xnet server in the room #Sassyspot. A list of Xnet servers follows. If you are still VERY confused, don't hesitate to email me, I'd be more than glad to help. I highly recommend IRC to anyone, but remember, it is EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE. You can also connect to other servers like Undernet, Effnet, Dalnet, among others. I suggest NOT listing the channels on these servers as they have tens of thousands of channels (chat rooms).
