Stranger Safety 2009

The title of our new program is Safe Side Stranger Safety, however, you will not see or hear the word "stranger" used in the video or discussions. Stranger is a word that creates many misconceptions, particularly with children. A key goal of this program is to provide parents and children with a more effective way to evaluate situations around them without resorting to the traditional "stranger" concept.

For more information, visit The Safe Side or contact the Mt. Pleasant Police Youth Bureau.

Car Seat Safety 2009

Do you know the laws regarding child safety seats? Are your kids in approved car seats? For more information, visit Governors Traffic Safety Committee: Child Safety Seats or contact the Mt. Pleasant Police Youth Bureau.

Click here for information about Mt. Pleasant Police Department's free Child Safety Seat inspection program.

Online Safety 2009

Social Networking websites are new ways for teens to communicate over the internet. Kids can sign on and become members free of charge. These websites, such as Myspace.com and Facebook.com, give young people the ability to post diaries, photos, videos, music, and personal information. Many teens are posting very specific personal information, creating the potential for danger.

For more information, visit the Wired Safety Website or contact the Mt. Pleasant Police Youth Bureau.
