Because we are a respected sorority on the New York City camput, we are well established at Pace and have received many honors. Since our founding in 1982, some of our awards include the Dean Heller Award (for the years 1985/1986 and 1987/1988) and the Meritorious Service Award (for the yers 1984/1985 and 1986/1987). We have assisted in Blood Drives, participated in The Annual GMHC Aids Walk, Phone-A-Thons, Alcohol Awareness Day, Spirit Night, Mr. and Ms. Pace Pageants, and the Annual Lip Sync Contest (for which we hold the record for winning 1st place for four consecutive years).
More recently, Iota Sigma Epsilon hs won the Outstanding Community Development Award for fall 1998 from VIA Pace and the Office of Student Development and Campus Activities. We are also the recent recipients of the Dean Heller Award in May 1999, Best Publicity of the Year 1998-99, Outstanding Sorority/Fraternity of the Year 1998-99, and Best Theme Program of the Year 1998-99 for our women's history month collaboration.
In addition to being well established within the Pace community, we also focus on helping our surrounding community. We especially commit ourselves to women and children's issures through voluntter work with VIA Pace, March of Dimes, The Kies with a PromISE Homeless Foundation, The Race For The Cure and SHARE, a foundation dedicated to finding the cure for breast and ovarian cancers. In the past, we have held Easter Egg Hunts at Odyssey House, A Toys for Tots Campaign, and have sponsored Mini Carnivals for Covenant House. We have also received a plaque from the Kidney Foundation for our continuing support.
As weel as participating in charity events, ISE hosts events with other Greek student organizations, including Alpha Chi Epsilon, our brother fraternity. We also continually throw social events including comedy shows, namely Snap Fest, Actin' Up, and Flavors of Comedy, as well as sponsoring out Stress Free Day, where students receive free massage and accu-pressure sessions. Of course, we also co-sopnsor parties with other organizations, on as well as off-campus. On top of this, we also host bake sales and other funraISErs for the charities we are involved with. We believe in original, quality programming for Pace students and will continually try to set the standards for them. Our work has enriched our lives and have proven that we, although a small local sorority, are a positive force to those around us.
